🐔🪑🎃 White Team vs. Red Team: The Garden Guardian, Mushroom Risotto & Pumpkins

🐔 White team vs. red team

The usual routine: managing the hens, divided into two rival teams, the white team and the red team. This time I upgraded my strategy: I placed a chair in the winter garden and sat there as the official garden guardian, ready to chase them away as soon as they got close. 🪑🛡️

And the verdict is in: the white hens are far more mischievous than the red ones. The red team keeps a respectful distance; the white team keeps testing the border, again and again, like tiny feathered smugglers. 😅

🧹 Mucking out the chicken tractor

Then the less glamorous part of farm life: a good clean-up of the mobile coop, the chicken tractor. Old straw out, fresh start in. The hens didn't say thank you, but I know they appreciated it. 🐓

🐈 Room service for the neighbour's cats

I also refilled the food dispenser for the neighbour's cats. At Ca' Paradiso nobody goes hungry, not even the guests on four paws who don't officially live here. 😸

🍄 Mushroom risotto by @candygio

Lunch was a treat: an excellent mushroom risotto cooked by @candygio, finished with a generous snowfall of Parmigiano. Creamy, earthy, perfect for the first real autumn days. 🧀😋

🎃 Pumpkins from Fattoria Naturale Shizen

To finish, a visit to Fattoria Naturale Shizen, a natural farm near Cagli inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka's method, where I bought a few pumpkins and squashes: butternut, a bright orange one, a blue-green one and two little striped ones. Autumn is officially on the table. 🍂
