6 months ago, I had visited аn abandoned tunnel in Kovachevitsa, Bulgaria ("Secret Object A"). Yesterday, with friends, I visited the other side of the tunnel near Priselci (Nesebar).
This is a project for a railway line linking Varna and Burgas (the two biggest Black Sea towns in Bulgaria).
The aim of the military-strategic objective is to ensure a faster movement of Soviet troops from Northern to Southern Bulgaria in the event of a military conflict with Turkey.
Its southern gateway went to the village of Kosharitsa where it was dug a little over 600 meters.
From the north it is dug up to the village of Priselci (Nesebar), which is situated on the border between Bourgas and Varna region. There were almost 2 km completed. That's where we headed.
To get there, we were cycling from the village Priseltsi.
We crossed meadows and dirt roads, and somewhere we were cycling there was no road.
The old and closed in decades tunnel in the area of Nessebar village Priseltsi is still there. Its entrance is stucco, but there is a gap to enter a man.
The transport project (beginning of the 1950-s) was conceived as part of a strategic railway highway starting from the remote Odessa military district and reaching the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
The aim of the military-strategic objective is to ensure a faster movement of Soviet troops from Northern to Southern Bulgaria in the event of a military conflict with Turkey.
It was built in the mid-1950s when the construction was stopped and the facilities abandoned.
It is believed that with the changed of the political environment after Stalin's death, the objects with a similar military-strategic purpose prove to be unnecessary.
In the tunnel, inhabitants are reptiles, bats and amphibians.
We found skeletons of animals, traces of bats, frogs.
For 60 years conservation has been formed stalagmites common for caves and various other interesting cave formations.
The end of the tunnel.
On the way back we did not get off without a flat tire.
On the way we found so many herbs and plants, we heard the songs of the birds.
At the end of the day we got to the cars and went home.
