Introduction
Last Sunday, I had a plan to go in Shizuoka to visit a relative of mine. Then, I remembered that I saw a post in Instagram reels about a certain place which highlights the early blooming of Cherry blossoms. Halfway through my way there, I stopped at the Atami station to check if it is true, and it did not disappoint me. Well then. let me tell you the story of how I saw the cherry blossoms in Itokawa Bridge of Atami.
Cherry Blossoms in Atami
It was Sunday in the morning when I left my apartment and decided to ride the local train on the way to Shizuoka. I was checking my phone on which stations I should transfer, and I noticed that it was in Atami station. Then, I remembered that I saw reels about Atami having Cherry blossoms that bloom early in February. Since I was coming there anyway, why not check out the place, and so I did.

I arrived there around lunchtime and I was deciding where I should eat. Then, I looked at this one crowded street and saw many people eating some food. So, I headed my way there and bought some snacks. I didn't know what I bought but I just found out that it was a hot spring rice cake (onsen manjuu) and rice cake wasabi mayonnaise.

After eating, I started walking my way to the Itokawa Bridge since Cherry blossoms were planted there. It was a 15-minute hour walk and all I could see was this long busy road. I didn't like walking that road since I could bump so many people there, so I went on a detour. After few minutes, I was out of the narrow streets between buildings, and I saw the Atami Sun Beach.
Near the beach, there was also two beautiful Sakura trees. The place was not that crowded, and I really liked the vibe there especially the Cherry blossoms near the beach. Then, if you proceed to walk further, you will see the Atami Water Park. A lot of yacht were parked there, and you will also see many birds flying around the deck. Many tourists were taking photos of the bird that flies around them.

From that place, you can get to the Itokawa Bridge in just 3 minutes of walking. As you go near the bridge, you will already see many Cherry blossoms. It was a spectacle to see the trees that bloom so early. As expected, there were many people gathering around the area. You will also see some professional photographers and even some people that were in Kimono.
Going there was really worth it, and I highly recommend all of you to visit it as well. As of writing this blog, the Cherry blossoms are still blooming, and I hope you could visit the place. They say that this blooms from late January to early February so if you happen to be here in Japan then come right now! It is around of two-hours travel from Tokyo.
