Elephants are not usually in the middle of cities, even being able to see a herd in their natural environment is not very common either, except in parks and reserves. So finding oneself among a herd of elephants in the middle of the city is something unthinkable.
Of course, it would be almost impossible if they were real elephants, but this herd of life-sized elephants, which defy all the logic of urbanization, is the most common thing to find when we walk through the Miramar Trade Center, in Havana. They do not go unnoticed although they are absolutely silent among the murmurs of the people who pass by them and among them. They do not look for water or food, but they do awaken the admiration and curiosity of all those who stop to observe them.
These metal elephants are purely decorative and their main component, besides the metal with which they were molded, is air since they were inflated and filled with it to give them volume. This attraction especially draws the attention of children who always play around the sculptures, and what they most enjoy is climbing on the smaller ones so that they can have a photo taken.
This space is also very pleasant because it is surrounded by well-kept gardens, and in this small square where there is always a fresh and welcoming shade, different ornamental plants of varied sizes and species can be seen. All this turns the place into a picturesque corner full of life.
The Miramar Trade Center is a very busy place since besides the offices of the different companies that are found in the buildings, it is surrounded by cafeterias, shops and service establishments, not forgetting the hotels that are found in the surroundings. That is why one can always see a large number of people, especially on weekdays when the place is in full activity.
I like very much every time I come to this area to stop at this great herd of metallic pachyderms, which have already taken over the space and have become a symbol of this site. It is as if these elephants had decided to stay to remind us that we can always find a surprise anywhere, and that imagination, when it materializes in a work of art, has the power to transform any space into an unforgettable place.

Los elefantes no suelen estar en medio de las ciudades, incluso poder ver una manada en su entorno natural tampoco es muy común, a no ser en parques y reservas. Así que encontrarse entre una manada de elefantes en plena ciudad es algo impensable.
Claro, sería casi imposible si se tratara de elefantes reales pero esta manada de elefantes de tamaño natural y que desafían todas las lógicas de la urbanización, es de lo más común hallarla cuando paseamos por el Centro de Negocios de Miramar, en La Habana. No pasan desapercibidos, aunque son absolutamente silenciosos entre los murmullos de las personas que se pasan a su lado y entre ellos. No buscan agua ni comida, pero sí despiertan la admiración y la curiosidad de todos los que se detienen a observarlos.
Estos elefantes de metal son puramente decorativos y su principal componente, además del metal con el que fueron moldeados, es el aire ya que fueron inflados y rellenados con él para darles volumen. Esta atracción llama especialmente la atención de los niños que siempre juegan alrededor de las esculturas, y lo que más disfrutan es subirse sobre los de menor tamaño para que les hagan una foto.
Este espacio es además muy agradable porque está rodeado de jardines bien cuidados, y en esta plazoleta donde siempre hay una sombra fresca y acogedora, se pueden ver diferentes plantas ornamentales de variados tamaños y especies. Todo esto convierte el sitio en un rincón pintoresco y lleno de vida.
El Centro de Negocios de Miramar es un lugar muy concurrido ya que además de las oficinas de las diferentes empresas que se encuentran en las edificaiones, está rodeado de cafeterías, tiendas y locales de servicios, sin olvidar los hoteles que se encuentran en las cercanías. Por eso siempre se puede ver gran cantidad de personas sobre todo en los días de semana cuando el lugar está en plena actividad.
Me gusta mucho cada vez que vengo por esta zona detenerme en esta gran manada de paquidermos metálicos, los que ya se han adueñado del espacio y se han convertido en un símbolo de este sitio. Es como si estos elefantes hubieran decidido quedarse para recordarnos que siempre podemos encontrar una sorpresa en cualquier parte, y que la imaginación cuando se materializa en una obra de arte tiene el poder de transformar cualquier espacio en un sitio inolvidable.
