I've been doing this blog for almost five years now. When I first started it was a real struggle figuring out how to attract and hold an audience. Not sure exactly where I got the idea; but it didn't take long for me to start posting to my blog doing different series. I've probably done dozens of series over the years. Each with their own format and style in regards to video, writing, and photography. Some have had huge success and others I've cut short.
When I started out I thought to myself what makes any entertainment series successful? I concluded it had to be because people can know what to expect before committing time to watch the next episode. You're gonna see familiarity and style of presentation, the same actors and so on. You become a fan of the series, you may have a favorite character, a favorite episode, a favorite line...You also know when a new episode is coming out and where to find it.
After the realization of all these benefits, I've posted in series format ever since. Took me only a month or two before I figured this out. For me, I'm naturally attracted to the idea of a series as I'm a super organized guy. I like everything in order; numbers, systems, formats, routines. It all fits almost too well with how my brain works. Which can sometimes hamper my creative side.
My longest and most successful series I've done is my Real Life Captured Photos series. Where I take "in the moment" photos showing everyday life of the people and places I go. Here is one from over four years ago from Quito Ecuador! Unfortunately this series and many others of mine have suffered lately cause I've been unable to travel due to the pandemic.
It's the first time in many years I have not been moving from place to place. But Thailand has just opened up, and restriction of movement with-in the country have been lifted. So I'm heading out all next year back to my old lifestyle again and I'm excited to have all sorts of new fresh series for my blog. Ideally I'd like to change countries but at the moment that does not make sense personally for me, but hopefully soon. However I'm planning on touring the entire country via motorbike come January 5th.
If you are a new author here. I can't recommend what is best for you. But I've had a lot of success creating series style blog posts, having people come looking for the next episode cause they know it's gonna be good. Right now I think @slobberchops has one of the best and most popular series going at the moment called "Tales of an Urban Explorer" You should go have a look. @phortun's Saturday "upvote give away" is another excellent long lasting series on the platform.
For me, there is no better time than now to start up a new travel article series. I've already posted several editions. Last time I moved freely around anywhere was almost two years ago before I came to Thailand on one of the last planes out of Vietnam before they closed the borders back in March of 2020. At that time I was motorbiking the length of Vietnam, South to North.
It was a whole other world of freedom back then. No tests, no hand sanitizer, no masks, no mandates, no restrictions, no virus, no vaccines, and no worries. That was sixteen "travel" years of my travel life! Now it's a Brave New Travel World! I almost went with this name for the series. But instead I went with "New Norm Travel".
This new series is where I will post anything related to Travel in the New Norm; highlighting the enormity of the new-normity! This will include my observations and experiences moving through Thailand as a wait and see not-vaccinated person. Here is a link to my latest "New Norm Travel" article talking about the new challenges of going to the neighboring island of Koh Samui.
So again, it may not be for everyone but the way I like to post is in series format mainly so my viewer knows what to expect before they even click their mouse. If you're a new author here you may want to give it a try yourself. Maybe your series will blow up and be a big success! Until next time.....
