I don’t have concrete plans yesterday but I was planning to go out. Probably go to the park to catch some fresh air and eat fluffy pancakes. I also thought of bringing my laptop to code in a cafe.

But I woke up very early and started coding at 6am. I know, I think that was crazy. I finished my work around noon time, and finally it was released at that time. No more bugs, and I even added another feature. @hiveph made an announcement post about it later that day. Yay! That means I didn’t have to work on coding the bot in the afternoon.

Since my afternoon got freed up, I thought of doing code for my work (my main work) but my brain couldn’t continue functioning anymore. 🥹 I thought it needed a rest.

My friends were talking of going to Shibuya to try a restaurant for lunch, so I told them I’d catch up where they’ll be after.

It was cloudy when I reached Shibuya, walking to the cafe where they’re having desserts. Shibuya is easy to get lost to, and my friend was chatting if I got lost. Honestly I could only count the few times I did because I don’t usually get lost. Though I couldn’t really recall those times. 😅

One more street to cross and I’d get to my destination. I saw Flipper’s on the other side of the road. I remembered eating at their branch in Jiyugaoka and even made a post about my experience. Here in Shibuya, there were people waiting outside. I heard they have a reservation system, probably the same thing as their branch in Jiyugaoka, but Shibuya’s pretty crowded, I think they’ll have to wait a while.

I reached the cafe and started catching up with friends I haven’t met for a week. I know, meeting this same group almost weekly now. 😂 We also discussed what we would be doing for the rest of the day and where we would be eating dinner. We thought of moving away from crowded Shibuya so I made reservations at a yakitori restaurant near Akasaka Mitsuke station, just to escape the chaos in Shibuya.

Apple went to her appointment so I was left with the men. We roamed around Shibuya looking for the things we needed wanted to buy. At first we went inside Shibuya Parco, which was a big mall, checking all the floors. We couldn’t find what we wanted to buy there though. After the mall, we were on the streets, and this was the start of us shopping.

I bought myself a sandal, which I’ve been browsing for a week already but online shopping is so different from going to the actual store to test. I walked away from a shoe store with a new pair of sandals from Nike, the type of sandals famous in Japan during summer. I felt so Japanese. 😂 Not so impulsive buy I think.

Thought of getting one of these but I got another

I also got a hat from Uniqlo. It’s summer so I have to protect myself from the heat, and it’s too troublesome to bring umbrella all the time. Not so impulsive buying again since this was in my cart for a long while now. (Yeah yeah I’m justifying my spending so I won’t feel bad 😂)

Night time in the streets of Shibuya

Since we took time in Shibuya shopping, Apple came back so we had to cancel the reservation in Akasaka Mitsuke and find another yakitori place in Shibuya. Luckily I found a store, same store, different branch, so I immediately booked for us. When we reached the store, there were a lot of people waiting outside but since we had a reservation, we got in right away. The people waiting were dumbfounded. 🫣

kampai!

Kampai! (cheers in english)

It’s normal in Japan to order the drinks first and clink drinks before eating. We then ordered a lot of food that we were so full after.

Grilled shrimps came first. My order. It’s their special this time. It was so good!! You should try it! And yes, you have to eat the entire thing including the shell. Crispy but very juicy inside.

This restaurant doesn’t just serve skewers, they also have other simple dishes. Of course we had to order some veggies too, not just meat.

We were also drinking and I got tipsy on my 3rd glass of cocktail whisky. This was the matcha highball, and it’s so bitter! It’s so matcha! And I didn’t really like matcha… though I don’t hate it either. But if I was to choose between Oolong or Matcha, I’d go for Oolong. Matcha in Japan is so overrated. They are everywhere but the best ones are away from Tokyo and those are the ones I like best.

After dinner, we still had time to spare. We didn’t want to go home yet. What can we do for an hour? Karaoke is an option but for sure we would want to stay longer.

And we’re at a darts bar again. 😂🎯 This marked our 3rd week playing darts. This has become a habit.

We already have a drill. We played cricket first to practice our aim and then play 01 game. I lost in cricket but I won in the 2nd game which was 701. Too bad, I didn’t reach 0 but looking at the gap in our scores, I shouldn’t complain. 🫣

This darts bar branch in Shibuya looks so new. All the machines were using DartsLive 3, so we were able to see some stats like this. It’s so cool! We were so used to using DartsLive 2 which was the older version and didn’t have features like this. Darts Up was the name of the darts bar by the way. They have several branches in Shibuya, I wonder if those branches got the newer models too.

We went home taking the last train - at least for me. It was pouring so I was a bit wet from the rain but I didn’t care anymore. The train was so packed, but I had to take this 00:00 train or else I would be going home walking far. I didn’t want to because it’s raining and no taxi since I should be saving. My friends didn’t take the same train as me, they left me to fight for my life. The train door was closing but some guys still wanted to get inside. I thought the train staff would push us inside but the guys did so we were like dominoes about to fall but luckily we didn’t. 😂 Fun times in the train. Though the guys who went inside last were so drunk and a bit flirty in front of me.

I safely arrived home and my night ended with catching up the latest episode of Kaiju No. 8 which was mind blowing by the way!

How was your Saturday? Was it memorable?

Thanks for reading!
See you around! じゃあ、またね!
