One of the interesting events that happened to me this month while I was with friends in the Shipchenska Planina - part of Stara Planina was the ascent of Hadzhi Dimitar peak and the visit to the Buzludzha monument. I will tell you about them in this post.

With @deska89, @fog043, @nanast and other friends, we went to the Buzludzha monument, crossing a marked path.

The monument is quite impressive and can be seen from quite a distance.

The monument was built on an important historical place for Bulgarian history.

"Three major historical events are associated with this mountain peak: the last battle of the Hadzhi Dimitar insurgents in 1868, the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Workers' Party in 1891, and the partisan battle in 1944."

It was built in 1981 and served as a museum and a place for ritual events. After 1989, when political changes took place in the country, it was abandoned and this is how it looks today - ransacked, crumbling and all painted with graffiti.

For me, the most interesting part that day was the visit to the Hadzhi Dimitar peak.

The path there was pleasant with wonderful views and covered with beautiful flowers.

Although it was quite windy, my friends and I spent some time at the top, and even here came a friend of ours with a bicycle, who was happy to go down the mountain paths.
