#1 Ruins of the ancient city-fortress of Kuelap
Most people will think of Machu Pichu when someone mentions Peru, but Peru has much more to offer than just that. @route-m-d went to another ancient ruin site called Kuelap situated in the jungle 3000m ASL, north of Peru. This site dates back to 500AD and it is thought to have housed over 300k people! There are two ways to get to the Kuelap from the base, you can hike 4 to 5 hours, or catch the cable car which takes 20 minutes. The ruins was a lot busier than expected and nearly all the tourists were locals who were rather noisy. Luckily the local tourists had to leave before the guys and soon they had the place to themselves and could explore it with some peace and quiet.

Have you ever been to a theme park where you get free drinks and food and can go on a swing ride built inside a nuclear cooling tower? Sounds unreal? @for91days confirms it is true and Wunderland is in Germany. The theme park is built on top of decommissioned nuclear power plants which were never used due to Chernobyl, so a a Dutch business man decided to turn it into an amusement park. What a great idea! The park has over 40 rides, mainly for kids. And the highlight of all the rides has to be the swing inside the cooling tower. It starts off inside the cooling tower and gradually ascends above the rim where you suddenly see the Rhine at a distance.

The last featured post today is from @ivansnz, he's in Bali in Indonesia. In his post today, he's taking us to a beautiful temple built on an island. Depending on the time of the day and the tide, you can walk on the rocks and cross to the island, otherwise you can still get there by boat. Unfortunately when he visited, he couldn't walk to the island, but watching the waves clash against the rocks by the temple was equally impressive.
