Salt Cathedral Zipaquira Colombia

In the previous post, about the salt mines of Falcon I mentioned that the mineral salt can be found in 3 states in nature, in salt mines by the sea, in the concentration of some plants and in salt mines, which are mountains that are mostly subway, but some exceptions you can get them in the heights as is the case of the salt mine in Bogota Zipaquira Colombia.

I was there 10 years ago and I still remember the amazing thing about that place, the whole mountain is made of salt, I remember that I passed my hand through the walls and floor and everything was salt, it is no longer exploited for its mineral but through tourism, because inside they built a cathedral hence its name, where there are valuable sculptures of salt and marble, ambient with colored lights, It is a cultural heritage, environmental and religious heritage, since inside marriages can be officialized, something that seems too eccentric and I do not think it is so appropriate although the place is beautiful there is very little light to highlight moments of a wedding and breathing is difficult because of the strong smell of sulfur and salt emanating from the mine, people with respiratory problems is not advisable to spend so much time in the Salt Cathedral.

In 2007 there was a contest about the 7 modern wonders of Colombia obtaining the first place, it is an architectural work that will leave you impressed of what you will see, since you can also buy jewelry and precious stones such as authentic emeralds, there are souvenir stores and a cafeteria that will give you the experience of drinking the best coffee in the world at 180 meters under the ground that I will tell you in my next liketu.

En el post anterior, sobre las salinas de Falcón les mencioné que el mineral de la sal la podemos encontrar en 3 estados en la naturaleza, en salinas a orillas del mar, en la concentración de algunas plantas y en las minas de sal, que son montañas que en su mayoría son subterráneas, pero algunas excepciones las puedes conseguir en las alturas como es el caso de la mina de Sal en Bogotá Zipaquirá Colombia.

Yo estuve allí hace 10 años y todavía recuerdo lo sorprendente de ese lugar, toda la montaña es de sal, recuerdo que pasaba mi mano por las paredes y el suelo y todo era sal, ya no la explotan por su mineral sino a través del turismo, pues en su interior construyeron una catedral de allí su nombre, donde hay valiosas esculturas de sal y mármol, ambientas con luces de colores, Es un patrimonio cultural, ambiental y religioso, ya que adentro se pueden oficializar matrimonios, algo que me parece demasiado excéntrico y no creo que sea tan adecuado si bien el lugar es hermoso hay muy poca luz para destacar momentos de una boda y respirar se hace con dificultad por el fuerte olor azufre y sal que emana la mina, personas con problemas respiratorios no es aconsejable que pasen tanto tiempo en la Catedral de Sal.

En el 2007 se realizó un concurso sobre las 7 maravillas modernas de Colombia obteniendo el primer lugar, es una obra arquitectónica que te dejara impresionado de lo que verás, ya que también puedes comprar joyas y piedras preciosas como esmeraldas auténticas, hay tiendas de souvenir y una cafetería que te dará la experiencia de tomar el mejor café del mundo a 180 metros bajo la tierra que te contaré en mi próximo liketu.
