The castle of Soncino or Rocca Sforzesca is one of the typical Lombard castles that are present especially in the Cremona area and was naturally built around the year one thousand to have a role in the defense of those lands.
This castle must have seen several battles because it was besieged several times and was also destroyed several times and then rebuilt.
In the last four centuries it has been practically used as a home because it had lost its fundamental point of garrison of the territory but the towers are truly imposing beyond the beautiful drawbridge that gives the possibility to enter the courtyard of the Castle.
Unfortunately, the public is not always open even if I read that the ticket is only € 5 and therefore I took a ride in the moat because it is also accessible for beautiful walks.
Inside the Castle I read that an archaeological museum has been created, which can also be visited with the ticket to visit the castle and there is also the possibility of visiting the basement of the Castle also thanks to a special guide.
I still enjoyed visiting it externally because you understand how important this fortified complex is and you can also see the restoration and restoration interventions that have been made throughout history so I recommend it as a visit to those coming from the parts of Cremona even simply like a Sunday outing.
I hope you liked the photos I brought you and you have known this place and I hope that one day you will have the opportunity to visit it.
