Hello, unfortunately yesterday was not a good day, it had been raining for a few hours, but I had already planned this trip to the castle of Rovereto, a town in Trentino Alto Adige, one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.
I had recently discovered this place and I must say that even though the weather was bad there were a lot of people.
I tried to take as many pictures as possible to take you virtually to this place and practically the castle is located in the centre of the village and is one of the best examples of Alpine fortification of the late Middle Ages, it also houses the Italian historical museum of war with permanent exhibitions but also temporary exhibitions.
We were lucky to find very good guides who explained a little bit of the history of this castle, which was built in 1400 near an already existing castle, then when the Venetians took possession of it they turned it into a military fortress with four bastions, but then in 1510 it fell into the hands of the Austrians until the end of the Great War, which had bloody clashes in these parts.
It's nice because inside there are all the collections of the various uniforms that have come and gone throughout history and also the fighting techniques that were used at the time.
And it's quite impressive to see the various weapons that have followed one another over time from the medieval era to the guns of the Great War.
In fact, inside this castle there is the largest collection of weapons in Italy, and not just duelling weapons but also those that were used in everyday hunting.
Then you can take a walk over the beautiful towers and see how they are made internally where the spaces for the cannons have been created.
and then both weapons of the Austrian era and those of the French era or rather of the Napoleonic era.
and there was also a beautiful restored cannon.
and finally the last part is dedicated as I told you to the great war with the presence of diaries that were used during the war we are talking about very primordial aircraft compared to classic airplanes
I hope you enjoyed these photos of mine and also the visit I made here at the Castle of Rovereto, and I hope that one day you will be able to visit this place too.
