Hello all my friends some time ago I was in Novara to visit a friend of mine and she spoke to me and also took me to see this castle which unfortunately cannot be visited at the moment.
So we were only able to see it externally, but we noticed that restoration work had begun and most likely someone must have bought it in the auction that took place a few years ago.
The castle is located in Casalgiate a town a few kilometres from Novara when I returned home I did some research on the internet and only found the FAI site that mentioned it.
It is really a shame that this castle has been reduced to such a state, also because it has a beautiful history, in fact the first document that speaks of the castle dates back to 1470, and during history it played a very important role in military operations In fact, it is said that Ludovico Il Moro, Lord of Milan, camped a little in that castle there to besiege the French occupying Novara.
Unfortunately, in the years after 1600, the castle was progressively no longer used as a point of defence but was converted into a country farmstead to be used as an important place for agriculture, and it continued to deteriorate until the last heirs of the castle gave it away as a donation to the Ospedale Maggiore of Novara.
Let's just hope that the private person who bought it will bring it back to Il Maniero of the past because it is a beautiful castle with two drawbridges and three towers.
I hope you found this article interesting. It is a pity to see that in Italy there are things of a certain value that are partly abandoned and partly in ruins, and this is a great pity more than anything else for the artistic and cultural heritage that I cherish.
