During my summer holidays I always looked around to nail a good shadow before it will notice me and fly away. I have spent this weekend with family at my summer house, and we made a short trip to extremely cool place (you may consider it a local resort, haha!) - the lake, on the site of an abandoned sand pit. We had a day-long swimming party, and of course I took the camera with me.

At the lake site I was shooting mostly sand castles, swimming babies and the overall party atmosphere; but before we came there, I met some wild landscapes. Let me show you a dozen of very shady pics. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention one sufficient thing: the post' visuals are better to be examined with some music of Muslimgauze turned on; please do this favour to me:

This place is located about 100 km to the south of St.Petersburg, and can be easily reached by train in less than 2 hours. I visited it more than once, and I can tell you - nothing changes. (Tho my wife once witnessed a group of photographers ventured into a fashion / nude modelling shoot at that spot). To me, this greenless desert always reminded of Tatuin.

Of course it is not totally greenless - that depends on your point of view.

Every plant's shade looked like a graceful neat delicate art, I wanted to photograph everything, but there were too many of them!..

Young horsetail sprouts are surprisingly photogenic.

And the grains of sand, it seems, also cast innumerable shadows ...

I hope you are not bored of looking at this endless variety of the same shape. For me it is meditative.
