One year ago I have posted a video featuring the beautiful, picturesque location called "Quartz Quarry" located in Kharkiv Oblast. For some reason, I completely forgot to write a detailed post describing the place for the tourists. Then the war started, life changed and time passed. Somehow in my mind, I thought that one day I will write about this incredible location so that people will know what gem was hidden in Kharkiv, Ukraine for the tourists. On the internet, there is not much information available for the people because this was not a famous tourist spot. Only locals used to visit there during the summer and autumn seasons for picnics, photoshoots, or bbq parties.

I have discovered this location from Instagram. I was looking at my feed and suddenly a picture caught my eye and then I showed the picture to Polina with whom I used to work at that time and said I wanna go there. She was also impressed with the location and told me that she also wanted to go there and this time we can arrange a girls' trip there. The location was far away from Kharkiv city, 2 hours drive, and located in a village called Nova Vodolaga or Novoselivka. People call this quarry Novoselivka Quarry.

I have written a post before where I have described the initial trip to this location and then I didn't continue to write about the details of "Quartz Quarry". Here you can read my post Trip to Merefa and Novoselivka Village - Nova Vodolaha district, Kharkiv Oblast - Ukraine. In my post, I have said that it was on my checklist, well I almost forgot about all the trip details so far. I wish I would have written about the full trip but it's fine.

We visited there at the end of summer and have done a photoshoot there with the quartz. But the best point was to spend time there, watching the sunset while sitting on the sand hills.

I am not going to write its geographical context because you will find it easily on google... It's a naturally reserved zone...

The village was small and reaching our destination was challenging. As you can see there is no proper road to reach there and the quartz plant was restricted from the public at that moment. So we had to take another way to reach Quarry without disturbing anybody.

A glimpse of the beautiful Quartz Quarry can be experienced from far away but the real fun was to reach there by going down from the ground level. I can't remember which ground level I was on but surely the quarry level was -4 if I consider my level 0. The quartz level was much lower than I have imagined.

Quartz Quarry is a natural reserved area because high-quality quartz produces here for 100 years source. I don't know whether it is a highly secured area or not because we didn't face any problems there.

The area is huge and covered with white sand. Of course, I need to mention the crystal clear blue lake which is also known as turquoise hue lake. Well, unfortunately, I didn't see the turquoise color at that time because of the weather and now I guess I will never see it in life.

Because of the mining system, the layer of the soil color is different. Some area was covered with mesmerizing white quartz, some area seemed grey, and some were yellow-brownish area. So from the bottom, the layers seemed like canyons. I heard that the area is highly protected though.

I was ready to play with the sand and here is a picture of how the beautiful quartz looked.

The layer of quartz seemed like waves of water. If I wanna compare then when you see the underwater sand level from the crystal clear water, the ground level seems wavey. The quartz layer was similar to that.

I have spent most of my time walking on the white sand barefoot and sitting on the cliffs. Trust me it was such an experience that I will never find anywhere. Probably you might think about walking on the sandy beach but this white quartz was different. Probably you might wonder how it feels walking on this sand during summer, well it's not so hot during summer. Besides many people take a swim there in the lake though it is prohibited.

It was a little bit difficult going from one layer to the other layers I mean going down and climbing up but it was fun. I was following the sand when I was going down and it was difficult to find a spot to climb up again. I don't have any hiking experience that's why it was a little difficult for me.

I was completely barefoot the whole time because I didn't want to ruin my shoes. I would recommend using a comfortable dress/outfit and shoes because you have to deal with the Quartz the entire time. Quartz can cause irritation and discomfort for the skin as well that's why many people avoid walking on sandy cliffs. If somebody has some kind of allergy or skin issue, I think this place is not for them...

Locals say early fresh morning time you might see the beautiful turquoise hue lake but some say during summer and early winter morning, you might see the turquoise hue color.

In my opinion, whether you experience the turquoise hue lake or not, you will be able to experience the astounding landscape by nature. The beauty of the immense amount of white sand might take your breath away...

I enjoyed the full sunset and evening moment infront of me. I was sitting there on a stone and watching the sunset. Our plan was to enjoy the sunset which definitely we did. The goal was achieved on the trip.

The sunset was magical, the reflection and the burnt sky had created a mesmerizing scenery for us...

I have seen many incredible and gorgeous scenic locations in life. I have spent my time in the middle of the Siverskyi Donets River, I have enjoyed the sunset at the riverbank of Lozovenka, explored traditional mud houses of Ukraine, and took photos in the middle of thousands of sunflowers. I am lucky. I was feeling grateful for being at Quartz Quarry though I had no idea what was waiting for me in the future.

I genuinely felt that this beautiful location was undervalued. Due to security reasons and lack of publicity, many people don't have any idea about this natural and resourceful spot. Besides reaching the location is challenging though the internet says you can reach there by train and then 10 minutes of walk. We drove there so our experience was different...

I hope when the war will be over, this location will get popularity among tourists and hopefully, I will be able to travel there again. Not sure what's going on there now but probably mother nature is protecting her resource now. Who knows...

I believe in fate and definitely, my fate was taken me there and gave me the chance to create a lifetime memory...
