In a previous post, I mentioned Račkova Valley and the unique dam built by the inhabitants of Pribylina.

I mentioned in passing that it is in Račková valley that tourists start their hikes and ascents to the peaks in the Western Tatras and that I myself completed three ascents from there. The ascent to Jakubina hill was one of them.

In 2020, I decided to get to know the Western Tatras. I have never been here on tourism before, but this year I have had a number of wonderful ascents. I would say that the ascent to Jakubina was one of the most beautiful.

I start the hike almost in the morning in the parking lot in Račková valley. Along the Račkov brook, I continue with a slight ascent. I walk around the dam I mentioned in the previous article. It

It doesn't take long and I come to the crossroads of two valleys. Račková and Jamnícka. My steps lead to Račková valley, but after a few meters I come to the signpost, I leave the valley and the real ascent begins.

Sections of the forest alternate with sections where they are cut. I take regular breaths. I look down into the valley and regret that I did not choose another path. But of course it will pass me by a while. I like tours and I enjoy every single one to the fullest. Even such challenging climbs as it is today.

I continue when this snake crossed my path. It is a venomous northern spindle snake. Looks like he's still young. I judge it by body size. I choose a lens for the body so that I can zoom in and take pictures without having to approach it. Unfortunately, the snake did not understand my photo and decided to crawl to safety while I was ready. This is the only photo that I managed anyway. I'm happy for her too.

It doesn't take long and I get into the rhododendron zone and above it.The

The Nižná Magura hill is the first one I reach. Now I have nice views of the Western Tatras and walk along the ridge until I reach the finish line.

I don't just come across nice views here. When you look and look around you will see beautiful plants that grow even at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level and are interesting. What do you say to them?

I don't even know how and I'm at the end of my journey, on Jakubina hill. The weather is good, the prospects are amazing. I sit down, choose lunch and relax. Relax, silence, views, in short, beauty.

As I sit, I was attracted by the hill, which is directly opposite. I look at the map and it's Klin hill. That will be the goal of my next tour.

I've been on top for about an hour. However, my trip is not over yet. On the way back I go the other way than up. I cross Hrubý vrch to the Slovak-Polish border. From here I descend down the Jamnická valley.

The way down is steep and it slides on small stones. It doesn't take long and I fall on my ass. Fortunately, nothing happened to me or my equipment, and I continue to descend.

Apart from me, this butterfly, which posed for me for a while, also roams here.

What to add at the end? It was once again a nice trip. The outlook was unrepeatable. At the same time, it was a challenging hike that tested my skills.

Well thank you.
