Račkova valley in the Western Tatras is a place where tourists start their hikes. I myself went on three hikes from here. I must say that one was more beautiful than the other and I definitely recommend everyone to visit this place. However, I will write about my tours sometime next time.

A few minutes from the place where I parked the car is a building that caught my eye at first glance. It is located in the Račkov brook basin. It was then that formed this valley. The building is located in the woods, where I would not expect it. It is a beautiful dam built in a part called Narrow Valley. It was built in 1935 and its task was to retain storm water in front of the village of Pribylina.

The stones that were used for the construction were blasted from the surrounding slopes, then worked and prepared for incorporation into the wall. The building is built of hewn stone blocks. There are six Gothic arches in the wall. It is they who add to the attractiveness of this waterworks. The lower three holes are blind and the water flowing through them is just a leak. The openings were used for water drainage during construction.

Men and women from the village of Pribylina took part in this construction. From the village, which this building was supposed to protect from big water. Before the construction of this work, the civil engineers tested the model they built in Lehota near the fire station. They tested what the building would last for.

At first glance, this is an amazing work. Hat down in front of the citizens of the village of Pribylina, who built this dam. There is another building in Slovakia that resembles this one in Račkova valley. It is located in the village Papradne. Who knows, maybe I'll go on a trip next time. You see, one goes on hiking to enjoy nature and, in addition, discover hidden treasures he doesn't even know about.

well thank you
