Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!
I know, I know... I have already posted a bunch of articles about mushrooms here on my blog this year and I know some of the posts were even officially declared to be the last mushroom posts of the year. And what am I coming with today? Yet another mushroom post. I am sorry. I am terrible and I know it. But seriously, did you guys know that the Azore Islands, a super remote Portuguese archipelago in the middle of the North Atlantic that many people in Europe still don´t know about, are home to some remarkably beautiful and interesting mushrooms? Well, I didn´t!
Usually, when hiking around the incredibly diverse and pristine nature of the Sao Miguel Island that is my temporary home now, I look far into distance to admire the breathtaking views of the vast ocean, the majestic cliffs, the incredibly green terraced hills, deep forests and picturesque valleys... But I just noticed that checking the ground actually also pays off in here. Down there, you can admire, among other things of course, a whole miniature world of mushrooms :)
It was just a couple of days ago when I made this surprising discovery so I don´t have much photo material yet to compile a decent and representative collection of the mushroom species native to this island but let me now show you what I have got so far ;)
I have no idea what these guys are or whether they are edible (probably not :D) but they look cute and I just could´t resist taking some close-up shots of them :) I will definitely keep my eyes peeled on my future hikes and when I have enough photos to create another photo collection, I will come up with another mushroom post.
My apologies to all mushroom haters out there :D
