In the capital of the province of Cáceres in the west of the country in the autonomous community of Extremadura are the most important museums in this region for their characteristics and variety. En la medida que iban tomando posesión en distintas regiones desde el sur el país quedo dividido por dos sociedades, los califatos musulmanes de los Omeyas y la zona cristiana al norte del país. Las trasformaciones profundas debidas a los muchos siglos que los árabes estuvieron en España se dejaron notar en muchos aspectos tanto económicos como culturales ya que introdujeron su modo de vida en la península.

En este periodo muchos de los habitantes de la ciudad amurallada, construida sobre la antigua muralla romana fue un lugar donde la cultura islámica prospero durante siglos. Uno de los ejemplos más importantes que se pueden ver hoy día en la ciudad de Cáceres es la casa Museo de Yusuf Al Burch situada en el casco histórico, en pleno corazón de la villa medieval.

When I entered, the person in charge of the museum gave me some details about the history and the tour. He also told me that it had been bought a few years ago as a house to be renovated, but when they realized the architectural gem inside and its importance, they turned it into a museum. He told me that it is said, I don't know if it is part of an urban legend, that the house is inhabited by a ghost that moves things and makes strange noises. The truth is that some sensational television program was there on several occasions to try to solve the mystery. Personally, this gave an extra point to the visit and gave it a certain mystical and mysterious air.
Al entrar la persona encargada del museo me dio algunos detalles de la historia y el recorrido, también me comento que había sido comprada hace algunos años como casa para reformar pero que cuando se dieron cuenta de la joya arquitectónica interior y de su importancia la convirtieron en Museo. Me dijo que se dice, no sé si será parte de leyenda urbana, que la casa está habitada por un fantasma que mueve cosas y hace extraños ruidos, lo cierto es que algún programa de televisión tremendista estuvo en varias ocasiones para tratar de resolver el misterio. En lo personal esto le daba un punto extra a la visita y le daba cierto aire místico y misterioso a la misma.
As I walked through the interior, I was greeted by rooms for different uses, a backyard and huge hallways that connected the rooms. As I looked around, each room had its own special features: the one for music, the one for chess and reading, the bedrooms or a large living room where the family lived together.
Ya en el recorrido por el interior habitaciones para diferentes usos, un patio trasero y unos enormes pasillos que comunicaban las estancias me recibieron. Según iba observando cada estancia tenía sus peculiaridades especiales, la de la música, la de los ajedreces y lectura, los dormitorios o un gran salón donde se hacia la vida en el conjunto de la familia.
A unique section was the kitchen, the construction itself had corners and cupboards. There were vessels and the large fireplace for cooking food, as well as all the instruments and utensils for this task. I saw a kind of cupboard and right next to it a well from where water for domestic consumption was directly extracted, this caught my attention.
Un apartado singular era la cocina, la propia construcción hacia recodos y armarios. Había vasijas y la gran chimenea para cocinar los alimentos además de todos los instrumentos y menaje para esta labor. Vi una especie de alacena y justo al lado un pozo desde donde se extraía directamente el agua de consumo casero, esto me llamo mucho la atención.
Then I went down to the basement where a small cistern collected the water and was used as a small pool where they heated the water. The sauna and the heat produced by the heating and the hot water radiated to the area above, being a very advanced architectural and technical advance.
Luego baje al sótano donde un pequeño aljibe recogía el agua y se usaba a modo de pequeña piscina donde calentaban el agua. La sauna y el calor que producía el calentamiento y el agua caliente radiaba a la zona de arriba siendo un adelanto arquitectónico y técnico muy avanzado.
