Hello dear travel friends,

the weekend before last I went on another short vacation with my friend @melonqueen. This time we went to Brandenburg/Prenzlau to visit a friend of many years.

As we didn't take a hotel for the first night, we had to spend it in his car in the yard.

I hope you enjoy reading about it!

The journey

The reason for the trip to Prenzlau, 450 km away, was that we had been invited to my friend's son's youth consecration. As Prenzlau is relatively difficult to reach from us, we had to plan more than 5 hours for the car journey. We also thought about the journey relatively late and therefore only realized a few days before the Jugendweihe that we would have to leave at 9 a.m. in order to be at the ceremony on time.

So we spontaneously decided to arrive a day earlier and spend the first night in my Tesla. We had been planning to test the Tesla's camping mode for a long time and saw the opportunity as a good first test.

When we arrived at my friend's farm, we were able to park in such a way that we could charge the Tesla conveniently via the socket in the barn.

To summarize the first night in the Tesla with camping mode, we can draw the following conclusions. The fact that the car circulates the air throughout the night and heats or cools it to the desired temperature made the time in the car very pleasant.

However, you should think about how to darken the car well beforehand so that it doesn't get light in the car too early in spring or summer. Due to our spontaneous planning, we thought about this very late and our attempts to darken the windows with blankets didn't work very well. You should also check early enough whether the mattress fits well in the car. In our case, it was a bit too wide and had to be folded up against the walls. This reduced the lying surface on both sides by approx. 10 cm. But it definitely made us snuggle up more. :P

All in all, we were still able to sleep well in the Tesla and were fit for the Jugendweihe the next day.

The youth consecration

Before the Jugendweihe started at 3pm. We checked into our real hotel in the morning. We had also booked this relatively spontaneously and were all the more surprised at how lovingly furnished it was. It was also within walking distance of a very large lake.

On a walk along the lake, we noticed how beautifully renovated and modernized the area around the lake was. Quite different from what I would have expected from general stories about Brandenburg. After all, it is one of our economically weakest federal states.

Instead, we found a really lovingly designed promenade by the lake with lots of playgrounds and nice places to sit by the water.

It was the first Jugendweihe for both me and my girlfriend. This replaces confirmation for those who are not in the church and is held when the child is fourteen. The ceremony was initially very classically structured. We started with a very large cake buffet before we had food from the barbecue in the evening.

After that, however, the celebration developed more and more into a party and went on late into the night.

If you're looking for us, we're on the far left ;)

A day at the lake

Sunday was a day we had all to ourselves. The party was over and we decided to take advantage of the many lakes in the area and hire a boat.

I'll let the pictures and videos do the talking here. I flew over the lake with the drone, but also filmed the boat trip properly.
