I thought this place was so cool. We were only talking about how Tokyo Bay was built on reclaimed land as we walked home from parkrun and I wondered what the area was like before. After a shower and a change of cloths we jumped on a local bus from our accommodation and headed to a second hand clothing store. @consciouscat needed a warm jacket for the cool Japanese winter weather. After Caroline had picked a nice red puffer jacket, we decided to walk the longer way home along the Sakai river, which took us right past the Folk Museum. I was not sure we would even go in as there was so much to do and see in Tokyo, I was thinking our time and money might be better spent else were.

But yet again a lesser know place that was free to get in ended up being one of the lights of our trip.  This well maintain folk museum was full of life sized building and displays of how the Urayasu village was before all the extra land was reclaimed from the bay.

So basically Urayasu was a fishing village and they grew seaweed in the water and dried it on racks

There were plenty of volunteer guides who would happily show and explain all the displays. One even disappeared of get us an English pamphlet which made our visit all the more enjoyable. There not that many international tourist at this place, which made me fell like we had found a hidden gem.
