The Gondola mid station where we had a bite to eat. Not the best looking meal I have ever had but it sure went down well on a cold day full of skiing. Technical the building is not a mid station as the lower and upper Gondolas are two separate lifts under the one roof.

You need to use the first Gondola to get to East Mountain from the village ot you drive to this centre station if you have a car. We then had to change to the second gondola to get to the top.

From the top of East Mountain there were some great view and a couple of fantastic intermediate runs, wide and uncrowded just the way we like them.

You also need to get to the top of East Mountain to ski across to mount Isola but that will be another post.

It was the first time we had experienced light super dry snow @consciouscats boots and skies disappeared just of the main groomed trail. ”Jpow” they call it Japanese power snow.

The sun in the photos tricks me but I remember how cold it was. At least minus 10 and even colder in any wind.

The top of Mt West 868 metres above sea level. Not that high as snow resorts go but the position in relationship to the ocean and temperature mean they get a lot of good snow.

The trail map from Rusutu Resort. East Mountain not the most original name but it is definitely on the eastern side of the resort.
