Some places are just so good to run. Uncrowded, friendly locals and a nice easy to follow path along a river with no traffic. I am lucky I have got to explore many such places over the years. Glocester district parkrun is defiantly one of those places. It was my 135th different parkrun location. We had been on a trip to visit family near Sydney and were on our way home travelling on Thunderbolt's Way, which is named after a famous bush ranger that used to operate in these parts. We had visited people over Christmas and organised New Years Eve 2024 at this nice country town. We only stay up for the early fireworks nowadays mainly so we can be ready to go for the New Years Day special event parkrun. So many others were struggling with hangover but still trying to start the new year off with an early morning workout. We got some really nice accommodation walking distance from parkrun. It was not that expensive as everyone seems to want to stay along the coastline in summer because it gets so hot. Gloucester was not that bad temperature wise as it has some elevation located in the Great Dividing Range. We did not see any platypus but they recon they are still a few in the Gloucester River. Not a huge turnout but there were a few other tourists from Brisbane and Sydney. There was a caravan park right next-door event closer than our accommodation. There were some good hikes to do nearby as well Bucketts Scenic Walk, Gloucester, New South Wales, Australia. - TravelFeed and The Gloucester Tops Circuit, New South Wales, Australia. - TravelFeedA nice double out and back course, on a pretty flat path, mostly along the river.
