I wonder whether they still do the old ticker tape for departing cruise ships, seems like such a waste and it must take ages to clean up.This was our cruise itenary, 3 different countries in 2 weeks, all meals included in a 4 birth cabin on d or E deck right down the bottom. I did two of these types of cruises. I enjoyed the first one so much I booked the second one as soon as I got back. The Fijian mainland was not that good back then. Though I have heard it is much better now with some big resort developments. I got to visit 4 different places in Fiji. Suva the Capital, Lautoka the second biggest town, we did a day trip tour to Beach Comber island from Lautoka and Dravuni Island. They used to do an information briefing the night before we arrived at a port. Not many people used to show up but I did. We got to Suva early, I usually slept in as every night on the ship was party night. Any way one of my mates got up early and zipped into town to do some tourist shopping and was back showing us 4 wooden knifes he got with names carved in them for $15 Aud. I had to laugh at the tourist briefing they said not to pay more that a dollar for a wooden knife with your name on it and you will probably struggle to get it through customs. He then proceeded to a singlet made to mark the occasion.LautokaDrinking kava with some of the locals.Beach Comber Island the day trip from LautokaHa, we used to sun bake no matter what in the old days it was very import that when you went back to work you had a good sun tan, to make all your mates jealous. Check the wave action in the pool, at night and if I got too rough they they used to drain it empty and put a net over it. I remember one night some drunk dude jumped from the top level into the empty pool hoping the net would stop his fall. Unfortunately it was not that tight or designed for that impact and he was badly injured and was taken to the Doctor and hospital on board. Back home again at Circular Key, Sydney with the old Greenpeace Rainbow warrior before they upset the French and it was sunk in Auckland.
