A Few Pictures of Mysterious Agora
Agora etymologically means city square, market, market place. The agora, which has commercial, judicial, religious and political functions, intensifies the art and laid the foundations of philosophy; stoa, monuments, altars and statues. It is the heart of the merchants.
The agora, located in the Namazgâh district of İzmir, dates from the Roman Period (2nd century BC) and was built in three floors near the center according to the Hippodamos city plan. İzmir agora is the largest and best preserved of the Ionian agora
Between 1932-1941, Rudolf Naumann, Professor F. Miltner and Izmir Ephesus museum director Selahattin Kantar first period of excavations by a large part of the Izmir agora, rectangular form, a wide (120 x 180 m) in a courtyard around the columns and arches built on the three-story and a ladder in front of the compound a structure.
After a long period of time, the excavations on the agora were started on August 5, 1996 with the permission of the Ministry of Culture, İzmir Governorship and the Directorate of Archeology Museum.

In the southeast direction of the Agora, in the 1980s the burnt wall of the Misak-ı Milli Primary School was demolished and the area of agora increased to 16590 m² with the addition of 2835 m² area to the agora. Agora studies under the sponsorship of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality; agora square, north gate, basilica six, west structure (stoa), antique bazaar in five places including excavation, restoration, archaeological cleaning and landscaping are carried out in the form.
The most important work was carried out with the presence of the northern gate of the agora. The goddess Vesta relief found here was the continuation of the reliefs of the Zeus altar, which was excavated in the first period. In addition to God Hermes, Dionysus, Eros, Herakles statue, as well as many male-female-animal statues, head, relief, figurine and so on. marble, stone, bone, glass, metal and terracotta artifacts were recovered. New found inscriptions here M.S. It gives information about those who help the city in 178 earthquake in Izmir.

How i go to Izmir?
If you are outside of Turkiye , you must come here, Istanbul and then again take a plane to the Adnan Menderes Airport or you can prefer highway but it takes 5 hours at least.
Where can i stay in Izmir and What can i eat?
Well ,i have not written just before there are excellent hotels in Izmir and they are cheap enough and Izmir-actually Turkiye- has great local tastes that are wonderful usually meat-based dishes.
