A picture of old Ottoman houses from Amasya
During the Ottoman period, the shahzadahs were sent to Amasya for state administration and they were provided with training here. Most of the sultans were raised in this rare city. So, in a sense, the first internship of the state administration was teached in these lands, so it is called the city of the shahzadahs. Meanwhile shahzadah means the Ottoman prince.
Amasya's first known name was Amaseia, the name was given by Strabon, the world's first geographer.
Old Amasya Houses and the Yeşilırmak
On the edge of Yeşilırmak is the row houses on the skirts of Mount Harşena where Amasya Castle is located. Maybe it's better to call them as mansions. As far as I can see, some of these houses or inns serve as hotels and pensions, while others serve as restaurants and cafes. So when you will visit there you can stay in these tiny and cute riverside hotels with suitable prices. Yeşilırmak is the name of river and its meaning is Greenriver.
These houses completely reflect all the features of traditional Ottoman houses. It will be pleasant to have a nice walk among the restored houses. You will feel like you are living in those times.
How i go to Amasya?
If you are outside of Turkiye , you must come here, Istanbul and then again take a plane to the Merzifon Airport or you can prefer highway but it takes 6 hours at least.
Where can i stay in Amasya and What can i eat?
As i have written just before there are excellent hotels side of the Yeşilırmak and they are cheap enough and Amasya has great local tastes that are wonderful usually meat-based dishes.
