Northern Palmyra
"Any trip is a holiday that will forever remain in your memory" — someone
I haven't been to Northern Palmyra for more than 10 years. This year, many factors came together that prompted us to go to this beautiful city. The first factor is the wedding of my relative who lives there. The second factor is the transport component. It should be noted that this has changed a lot in 10 years. High-speed trains appeared. And most importantly, direct flights from our city appeared. As a result of lengthy debates, it was decided to fly by plane.
The weather in May was quite unusual for this period. It was desperately hot all week.
We devoted the first day to the historical center. We simply wandered around places familiar from childhood. The route ran along canals, world-famous bridges and temples. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. A stunning aroma filled the city. The reason for this was the flowering of lilacs.
The tourist season has not yet begun. This was our luck. Prices for hotels and restaurants have not yet flown into space. Therefore, we allowed ourselves a hotel of a fairly high level. I liked a small hotel near Aurora. It is a pity that the windows of our room did not have a view of the Neva. But overall the hotel was not bad at all.
In ten years the city has become prettier. Many buildings have undergone restoration. The parks are well maintained. What particularly caught my eye was the large number of watercraft in the city's canals. This probably tells us that the residents have become richer. Or maybe they just do business with tourists, who knows?
On the second day we went to the art museum. I noticed that you can now take photographs in museums.
By tradition, I devoted maximum time to the Aivazovsky room, where the most spectacular paintings of the gallery hang

We're damn tired. We covered over 20 km on foot! For many visitors to Northern Venice, tired legs are normal
