Long Beach on the Cambodian island is a beach that should be visited now - or at least as soon as possible. For the most parts, it's still untouched, but unfortunately the first huge hotels are already being built and mass tourism (probably mainly Chinese) will maybe come soon.
How do I get to the Long Beach?
The Long Beach is currently (I almost have to say fortunately) still very difficult to access. You can either take a boat that will bring you to the beach and pick you up from there or you can choose the budget option: you hike through the jungle (just like @travellit did). Since I did not feel like hiking, as we had an unnecessarily hard hike the previous day, we opted for the more comfortable option.
Long Beach: Is a visit worth it?
Definitely! The beach is super long and offers some paradise-like beach sections. The water is very clear and the color glows turquoise. The white sand is fine and you can easily find a lonely place in the shade. Unfortunately we noticed some trash at some beach sections, which is unfortunately not uncommon on pristine beaches in Southeast Asia. Swimming is great and overall it was a nice half-day trip!
In any case, I would consider Long Beach to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Koh Rong (except for the construction site and some trash. Luckily, it's just a small part of the huge beach).
Koh Rong Skybar
In the late afternoon, when the boat took us back to Koh Rong's main beach, we tried the Skybar. You will find the entrance not far from the pier and after some stairs you will arrive at the top. Here you can enjoy the view of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem with a cold beer. A perfect end of the day!
