Hey Actifitters,
We had a pretty big program for our second day in Madeira with four main activities. The first one was a visit to Fanal, the enchanted forest.
A beautiful place, which explains we saw many people creating video and photo content, from Celtic-like good witches dancers to pole dancers! It's said to be even better with mist, but the weather was already very sunny.
You can probably spend quite some time there, walking the different areas. We didn't stay too long though. Like I said, we still had plenty to explore.
Next we went to mirador ilheus da ribeira da janela, some interesting islands, or more like rock formations. A beautiful view from the parking lot.
But the best views were at sea level.
We followed the shore for a while in the rocks until we could come back on the other side of this tunnel.
Next on the schedule was Porto Moniz and its natural swimming pools. We hadn't really planned to stay there too long, but the water was perfect and we stayed swimming there for a while.
And finally the main event, a hike at PR9, Levada do Caldeirão Verde, or the green cauldron. I actually thought it was a short hike, but it was a good 3 hours hike, mostly flat though. And of course, lots of green!
And amazing views.
And a few waterfalls, especially the big one at the turn around point.
Such a clear water.
On the way back, we found some mist, adding to the mysterious atmosphere.
Since we started a little late, we finished after nightfall, it was especially dark in the 4 tunnels.
Well, that was a very full day. It's possible to spend much more time at all these points we visited, but with only a few days on the island, we want to pack as many activities as possible, especially when the weather is so good. Let's see what the next days have in stock for us.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
