Now it is a famous place of nobility. Hardly anywhere else will you meet so many famous and successful people at the same time. It's all Cannes. And the merit of this is not only the Cannes festival, but also the cleanest sea itself. Coming to Cannes, you feel like a part of this successful and well-fed life.
Whatever month of the year you come to Cannes - visitors are always welcome here and the weather is sunny all year round. So, for tourists who are on vacation in winter, this is a big plus. Starting from the nineteenth century, when the railway was built here, the city began its transformation to today's modern appearance.
Today, Cannes can be called the most luxurious city in the entire Mediterranean. Even more luxurious than Nice. Cannes has long been associated with France along with Paris and its sights. For lovers of luxury holidays, there are all conditions - fashionable hotels with their cleanest beaches, clean air, many cafes, restaurants, entertainment.
The climate and weather in Cannes is always sunny. Even in winter there is always a positive temperature; in summer it is very dry and hot. I must say that the beaches of Cannes are not as dry and hot as in the city itself. Apparently, the Mediterranean air makes us feel very comfortable.
It is thanks to the wonderful climate that Cannes has become not only the capital of the world film festival, but also a wonderful, even said, high-class place to relax. Within the city, you can observe a large number of park areas, places for recreation.
Palais des Festivals and Alley of Stars
Of course, absolutely everyone knows the Palais des Festivals and Congresses in Cannes - the famous red carpet is the main city attraction. Before the trip to Cannes, I heard such an opinion that this city is overlooked, because there is nothing interesting here, even the red carpet is disappointing, because the palace is tiny and does not look like a landmark.
The palace is really small and not very impressive. But in any case, I advise you to get to the palace. Besides, there are several busts around it - they may also be of interest to tourists.
Despite the fact that the carpet path is relatively small in size and covers only twenty-four steps, inexpressible sensations still raged inside me, and quivering delight haunted the thought that every year the world's movie stars climb this staircase. The aura, by the way, is really special in this place.
Esplanade Georges Pompidou runs along the Palace of Festivals and Congresses, and there are palm prints on some of the paving stones. Yes, yes, you're not mistaken, this is the Cannes Alley of Stars.
Port of Cannes and beaches
From the famous palace of film festivals to the luxurious Palm Beach casino, the well-known promenade of Cannes - the Boulevard de la Croisette stretches. Previously, it was an unremarkable village road. Nowadays, it is a waterfront with expensive luxury hotels.
Then we went in the direction of the port of Cannes, where, unexpectedly for everyone, a number of original art objects were discovered under the open sky, exposed for public viewing. Well, tell me, what French resort town does without luxury boats, ships and yachts? At the same time, carefree people continued to lie on the city's sandy beaches and enjoy swimming in the sea.
Of course, beach holidays in the summer are very popular in Cannes. Public free beaches in Cannes are no worse than private beaches. The only pity is that there are so many private beaches here (they belong to various hotels).
An old town of Cannes
In the city of Cannes, there is an old town that well deserves a few hours of your attention. Since, in the old town, it is also very good to just walk around: narrow streets, old houses, numerous restaurants, souvenir shops. The houses of local residents are mainly located northwest of the city center, but here you can find some advantages. The old town is very quiet, you can walk slowly, resting from the bustle of the city. For example, you can walk around The Suquet Quarter - this is the geographical and cultural center of old Cannes. There is an ancient tower, the chapel of St. Anne, the Church of Our Lady of Hope, etc. Wandering around the old city, you can stumble upon very colorful places.
Saint Margaret Island
While relaxing in Cannes, do not forget to make a trip to the island of Saint Margaret. We went to the island of Saint Margaret on our own from Cannes. From the old port, boats go to this island every half hour. Travel time is only fifteen to twenty minutes and even this boat trip is very pleasant. We were lucky that we arrived on the island of St. Margaret early in the morning and there were not so many people, by lunchtime there were just crowds of tourists.
We immediately went to the Fort Royal fortress. From the pier you need to go to the left and go up a little. The entrance to the fortress is paid. The fortress itself is large enough, there is something to see and think about, we learned and saw a lot of new things. From the fortress we saw amazing views of the sea. There is also a museum, and a prison where the man in the iron mask was kept.
Also, if you arrive on the island earlier, you can find a deserted beach and swim there. The water is just amazing; clean air and crystal clear water. If you want to take a break from noisy Cannes, then be sure to go to the island of St. Margaret. Throughout the island you can meet artists and photographers, where, if not here, to create masterpieces, everything is conducive to this.
The Musee De La Castre
The Musee De La Castre is also within walking distance from the city center, and your path will run through beautiful and atmospheric French streets. Wherever you look, there is an atmosphere everywhere. Since the museum is located in the old district, here you can find a lot of interesting things. The museum itself is located on a hill, and we need to climb it.
Entry to the museum is paid. Musee De La Castre combines a historical museum, an art gallery and an observation deck. But the main pearl of this museum is precisely the observation deck, so do not run away from the museum as soon as you see the exposition. Cannes does not have any tower to look at the city from above, but there is Musee De La Castre. A visit to this tower is included in the price of the main ticket.

Pati tvirtovė pakankamai didelė, yra ką pamatyti ir pamąstyti, sužinojome ir pamatėme daug naujo. Iš tvirtovės pamatėme nuostabius vaizdus į jūrą.
