Greeting to TravelFeed!
This will be a short first post on this platform, I am still in my getting-used-to-everything phase (I joined Hive all of 4 days ago), but suffice to say I'm loving it so far!
About 8 months ago, myself, my two kids and amazing husband moved to Zanzibar; there is a rather long story behind the decision, as we were very happily living in Rwanda prior to coming here, but more on that another day. For now, let me introduce you:
Zanzibar
Above: Zanzibar east coast.
I count myself as one of the most blessed and fortunate people, to have the opportunity to explore this gorgeous island:
Above: Stone Town, Zanzibar
Stone Town (part of Zanzibar City) is located on the west coast of Unguja, the "main" island of the Zanzibar archipelago, known as the Spice Islands. The other larger island is called Pemba (I have not been there yet). Stone Town is a UNESCO world heritage site, and it's not hard to see why - the immense beauty, the history, will blow your mind. You will see buildings more than 600 years old; you will get to know a rich history. And...DOORS! Just look at some of these beauties:
And as you walk through the many alleyways and streets of the town, the treasures you come across:
My family and I reside on the east coast of Unguja. This side of the island is well-known for kite surfing and calm seas, thanks mostly to the large coral reef.
Not too far from us is the famous The Rock Restaurant:
There is so much more to say and show you, but I will do so in upcoming posts!
