Just Across The Road From The Airport!

The most popular beach in our sister isle of Tobago has definitely got to be Store Bay. For one, it is literally right next door to the airport, practically across the street and the prominent tours for the famous Buccoo Reef can also be accessed from there. You can also find local things on sale that people come all the way from Trinidad just to buy such as tulum and bene balls (local delicacies) as well as trinkets and souvenirs. At Store Bay, the waters are calm, serene and beautifully coloured and the sands are white!

On our last visit, we happened across a dog who was one of the many sea dogs on the beach that live off of the scraps and food given to them by the tourists and beach goers. They are really friendly but as you can see, the outdoor living takes a toll on them. He was so polite and played with us a bit before moving on his daily tour of the hot white sands.

The waters are usually calm and so clear that it feels like you’re in a pool! You can always see your toes no matter how deep you go and coming from Trinidad, the beach waters are never this clear and pristine. The colours alone are breathtaking, that green and turquoise hue never leaves my mind after we visit and I could never stop thinking about going back, it has a special place in my heart.

The time we visited was that time of the year where there is this huge great boat race between the two islands that starts at Trinidad and ends at Tobago. This meant that there were lots of boats around here and there. The boats that we saw were the sportscars of the boating world and they looked so awesome. The thing was though, that every so often there were these huge roaring thunderous engine noises that broke the serene peace of the area when one of the racers passed by.

There are so many beautiful areas to take in the scenes that are almost always picture perfect. It's so much like a paradise especially in the summer. There's this area that’s like a porch where you got a nice carrot shed roof and a wonderful fence to just kick up your feet, enjoy the waves and relax!

There is another area with a bench atop an elevated area with benches where there are trees that provide sweet shade and cool breezes. It's all so heavenly and relaxing! I guess you can understand a little now why it feels like I always leave a piece of my heart every time we visit!
