Each city has its own mystical, mysterious places, covered with horror. One of the most sinister corners of Odessa is the "Ladder of the Dead". This rather eerie space connects the well-known, famous Deribasovskaya and Polsky descent. Stepping on the steps with your feet, you gradually descend to the very bottom. A few dozen meters more and one of the gates of the Marine Station opens in front of you. This Ladder is terrifying even during the day. From her blows cold in the summer heat. Why is she so scary? Why does it terrify not only the residents of Odessa, but also the guests of the city? Read on and find out everything!
The beginning of the story
Everyone knows that Odessa is, first of all, a port city. In the middle of the 19th century, Pearl by the Sea became a real port giant. It was at this time that the city was shaken by a series of disappearances. The most interesting thing is that only the men were missing.
At first, they practically did not pay attention to this. The fact is that mostly sailors disappeared without a trace. Many of the missing were foreigners. Representatives of law enforcement agencies started cases, began searches.
Subsequently, the investigators began to understand that this was already a real series of disappearances. All cases related to the loss of sailors were combined into one! Despite all the efforts made by the police, the search did not yield any results. For many years, no one could even imagine where the young, and not only people, were going.
Spooky find
On a sunny, warm summer day in Odessa, the girl went to Privoz! Walking along the shopping streets, she decided to eat a pie. A pretty saleswoman was moving towards her. Everyone knew this woman. Rose has been selling pies for several years.
The girl came up and asked for a meat pie. Rose took out and sold her what she wanted. After taking a few steps, the girl opened a paper bag and took a bite. The pie beckoned with its appetizing smell! And here a piercing girlish screech, a heartbreaking cry, which made the blood in their hearts freeze, was heard over Privoz. Everyone looked around and could not understand what was the matter.
It turns out that after biting off a piece of the pie, the girl saw a phalanx of a human finger. Her horror knew no bounds. It was a real shock. Rosa was stopped, the police were called.
An unexpected and scary denouement
Rose "worked" in one of the houses on the street with "white sheets". This is the Odessa analogue of the "red light district". You yourself understand that Rosa had men as clients. Moreover, mostly sailors. She killed them. Well, in order to hide the traces of crimes, I made pies from the bodies. Moreover, so that there were no unnecessary suspicions, Rosa traded her pies herself.
If a girl heard a suspicious movement outside the door, she threw the corpses out the window. They fell, right next to this staircase, in one of the shaded corners. Then she calmly went downstairs, walked around the building and immediately buried them. The police were able to unearth more than 20 bodies of men.
Unfortunately, the first woman-maniac in the history of the city could not clearly explain the essence of her actions. Since then, this staircase has received its current name: "The Ladder of the Dead." That is why she instills terror in people to this day!
