Time of receipts. I simply could not tell about the historical faculty of the Odessa National University. I.I. Mechnikov. It's not even that I studied here! This faculty is one of 3, on the basis of which, in 1865, the University was founded. In addition, the faculty is considered one of the most outstanding in our country. At the moment the faculty is united with the philosophical. There are 13 doctors of science and 22 candidates working here.
I will not list all the regalia and achievements of the faculty. For his long history, he was able to prove that he is one of the best not only in Ukraine, but also in the entire post-Soviet space. I will give just one small example. From 2005 to 2010 110 scientific works were published outside Ukraine. During this period 25 monographs were published.
Here worked academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Professor Vladimir Nikiforovich Stanko. I was fortunate enough to listen to the lectures of this outstanding historian! For this person, I'll tell you later.
How to get there and address
Official address: Elisavetinskaya 12. Although, in Odessa this street is familiar, as Shchepkina.
We go through the nobility. Here, two universities are located opposite each other.
At the address Dvoryanskaya 1/3 is the Academy of the cold, and on the other hand - ONU. Mechnikov.
We descend to the very bottom and lean against Shchepkin. Turn left and through meters 100 - 150 is the faculty.
You can get another way. We leave Deribasovskaya for Preobrazhenskaya. Turn to the right. Passing the Scientific Library we reach the intersection.
Then it is identical. From Railway Station can be reached on foot or by tram number 3 (this is a recommendation for students).
Let's talk for study
I studied at the Department of History of the Ancient World and Middle Ages. He worked under the guidance of such specialists as EA. Radzikhovskaya (Head of the Department), R.D. Bondar and P.N. Totsky. It's a pleasure to work with such teachers. Many say that the dean of the faculty Kushnir is very strict and picky professor. I would not say. Yes, demanding, but fair.
Yes, I almost missed one moment. The hostel is located on the street. Novoselsky, next to the Old Kirch. The faculty is only 10 minutes on foot.
I entered in 2000. At first it was somewhat unusual. Especially when you consider that you studied in absentia. But I quickly learned and lectured (especially in practice) conducted quite interesting discussions with teachers and assistants.
One case
In a practical lesson in archeology, I began to catch on the inaccuracies of the teacher's assistant (she was just doing practical exercises). The next lesson came from a teacher, Martynenko, and began to conduct a survey, in the form of a dialogue with students. After several interesting discussions, he freed me from the rest of the practical classes.
That is, with this example I wanted to show the attitude of the teaching staff to the students. I can recall the preparation of my 2nd course on the topic: "Political figures in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy." I could finish the consultation almost on any school day. And on the day off!
Thus, I believe that studying in one of the most prestigious universities in the country, this is a huge amount of knowledge for any student. I'm not talking for cultural leisure! Various trips to museums, exhibitions, participation in excavations and scientific activities. The main thing: you need to have a desire! At the moment I am engaged in my own scientific activity: "Collecting folklore of the Odessa region. Well, thanks to the Voice in general and @marina in particular, he began to work on a new direction: the history of the houses and streets of Odessa and other settlements of the Odessa region. Including: the reconstruction of the history of small settlements.
