Something in recent times we missed one important topic - educational institutions. Recall that our community has set a goal: popularization of the Odessa region. Our blog should become a kind of encyclopedia in our area. That is, we must talk about everything that relates to public life and the history of our region.

In this regard, we are resuming the rubric: "Educational institutions of the Odessa region". #### Reference. We will tell about all educational institutions of our region: d / s, schools, gymnasiums, colleges, universities and institutes. Separately, let's talk about orphanages, which we try to help.

Today we will talk about school number 1 in the city of Balta

Secondary school I - III degree number 1 named. Oles Honchar - Lyceum

A Brief Historical Reference

The history of the school is very curious and rather tragic. It was discovered in the distant 1917. At first, it was a 7-year school. She settled down in the room of the former men's gymnasium, which is located on the street. Shevchenko (next to the Pedagogical School). The Gymnasium worked from 1911 to 1917. The first director was Kostyanetsky Nikolai Fedorovich.

In 1922, the union with the school number 2 was made. This was a compulsory measure, as the premises of the school number 2 was converted to a barracks for the placement of patients with typhus. At that time Pashinsky was in charge of the school, Ivan Pavlovich. He worked until 1924. Its place was taken Bontash Elena Vasilievna, who held the post until 1928.

In 1929 the first renaming of the educational institution took place. Until 1932 it was the Balta Labor School No. 1.

In 1932 the school was awarded the title "Model School". Accordingly, it began to be called: "The Baltic School № 1 named after them. 15 years of the Komsomol. "

In 1933, the educational institution receives its new name: "The Balta Progressive-Medium No. 1". From 1933 to 1934 the school was led by Buchirin. She personally went to Moscow in order to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the work of exemplary educational institutions. She received a lot of new knowledge, which she applied in her work.

During the Second World War the school did not work. Pupils and teachers went to the front. They served in different kinds of troops. There were pilots, tankmen and artillerymen. Some were members of underground resistance. The occupants adapted the school premises to barracks. All property was exported, partially destroyed.

April 10, 1944, after the liberation of the city, the school resumed its activities. Residents of the city actively helped to restore the school. To resume the educational process, the citizens of the city, with their own hands, produced tables, chairs and blackboards. Until May 1944 the school sheltered the Pedagogical School. In May the school received its own premises. She moved to the streets of Kotovsky and Uvarov. It is worth noting that the school is still located at: Kotovsky (Lyubomirska) 296.

This is an ancient building, which was built with the support of Zusi and Ides Pisarevsky, in 1912. They helped build this building for the creation of the Jewish school, which was housed in this house from 1912 to 1938.

The first director, in the post-war period, was Oleinik. In 1957, another renaming took place. There was a "Balt factory factory number 1".

In the 1980s, scientific and educational activities became more active. In particular, in 1987, the school operates a tourist-regional club "Korchaginets". In 1989, the "Holiday of Light" was organized and held for the first time. It was during this period that the cabinet-museum of Taras Shevchenko was opened.

In 1993 the penultimate name changed. There was "The Ukrainian National School of the Baltics I - III degree № 1". Under this name, she worked for 3 years.

In 1996, it received the modern name: "The Balta Secondary School I - III degree number 1 named. Oles Honchar. " Renaming took place thanks to the resolution of the Cabinet No. 420 dated April 11, 1996, to which the school was named after O. Gonchar. At the same time, the school-museum of Gonchar was opened in the school. The opening of this cabinet was visited by the writer's wife Valentina Danilovna Gonchar.

Present day

Today the school is headed by Valentina Nadomovna.

The school continues to be the flagship of the region's school education. Work continues in the tourist and local lore directions. Separately, much attention is paid to the study and restoration of the history of the native land.

Near the entrance there are memorial plaques to the outstanding pupils of the school. In particular, the senior soldier Porfiryev VS and the warrior international Zaritsky OV (killed in Afghanistan) studied here.

The whole territory is buried in the greenery of ancient trees. The school building is constantly in shadow. It is important that near the fence there is a map of the sights of the entire Baltic region.

I liked that the staff and the management of the school honors its history. On the territory of the school there are 2 monuments, which are located opposite the historical and historical museum of the school.

Monuments: scout Vasilyeva Tamara Ivanovna and Stepan Oleynik.

I often see school students taking part in a variety of cultural events in the city, district and region. At the moment, I plan to establish fruitful cooperation with the school's historians in particular, and the city as a whole.

Today I cooperate with historians and local lore specialists of the Kotovsky district, with some Odessa specialists and so on. In the future I plan to post a detailed history of not only this school, but also all other educational institutions of the Odessa region.
