On the territory of Odessa National Law Academy S.V. Kivalova is the temple of all who continue to study. In fact, it is believed that the Temple of the Great Martyr Tatiana is the holy place of all students.

A bit of history

Sergey Kivalov, MP of several convocations, President of the National University of Odessa Law Academy, decided to build a temple for all students and teachers of Ukraine. As everyone knows, Saint Tatyana, who lived during the reign of the emperor of the Roman Empire, Alexander Severus, is the patroness of all students. This is the only temple in Ukraine where both students, graduate students, schoolchildren and teachers can ask for help.

In the days of the Roman Empire, the pagan roots of religion beat very strong. But the young girl Tatyana, even though she was facing a terrible death, did not refuse to pray to the Lord God Jesus Christ. For this, the church recognized her as a saint. She patronizes everyone who studies. The temple holiday is Tatyana’s day (but we'll talk about it a little later).

In 2006, the Metropolitan of Odessa and Izmail Agafangel consecrated the temple. The construction was carried out through donations. Teachers, students and ordinary residents of the city took off at the Temple. A certain amount of funds was able to allocate Sergey Kivalov. Students not only donated to the Temple, but also provided all possible assistance in the construction. In fact, they were helpers.

Church of the Holy Great Martyr Tatyana today

For 13 years of its history, the Temple has become a cult place for all students of Ukraine. On Tatyana’s day, thousands of parishioners gather here not only from Odessa and the region, but throughout Ukraine. Students ask patroness Tatyana for help before the sessions. Here people create their young families.

Rector of the Temple Archpriest Oleg Mokryak crowns and baptizes. Here you can always confess and take communion. Not only students, but also teachers come to the Temple for prayers and services: academicians, associate professors, candidates of sciences and ordinary teachers. The temple is never empty.

At the moment, construction is ongoing. A parish school is being built on the territory of the Temple.

Celebrating the Day of the Great Martyr Tatyana

Annually, on January 25 (in 2020 - it will be a Saturday), festive liturgies are held here. Students, teachers and Tatyana from all over the city and region are going to the service. They ask for intercession. After the liturgy, all parishioners will have a charity dinner. This is a real tradition. Students cook porridge with stew right on the street, on fire. At least 1,000 people cook dinner each year. The food is blessed and blessed by the rector of the Temple.

The temple is located at the 4th station of the Big Fountain. Doors are always open for parishioners from all over the world. The main shrine of the Temple is a particle of the relics of the Holy Great Martyr Tatiana.
