My niece is back home she arrived last June but we were busy with loads of things we weren't able to bond that much until yesterday when we decided to have my husband's ear checked but couldn't get a schedule as all doctors were fully booked.
I brought her to BECCA for some snacks, we've been here before like three years ago [click here to see the video], and Matti was still a year old at that time.
So it's quite a long time, I believe it was just right for us to check out the place again. I remember having their dirty burger before; it was good, so I am craving it.
Sign from the highway. The roadside part of Becca was a food park but somehow, there are no more stalls but a new glass-walled cafe has been constructed. It is still being worked on and will soon open to the public.
There are a lot of vehicles parked at the roadside, my husband complains they must have a proper parking space, I couldn't agree more as just a few minutes earlier, we saw some clamped vehicles in the city proper. We just had to pray the traffic enforcers won't reach this area!
Outside foods and drinks are not allowed, so I had to finish Matti's Lemon drink before going inside!
Not much had changed, they still have this rustic industrial design with warm lights all over the space. They have a second floor too accessible by a spiral staircase. But customers prefer their lounge area just right next to the beach!
I can understand why this is the best spot in the cafe. As the afternoon rolls, locals of the city can be seen doing their afternoon stuff, like padding in the water, seashell hunting, or just simply walking around! It was relaxing to just observe and watch but also, reflect on many things in life! Of course, everyone at the cafe is sharing their table with a friend or a loved one too!
But for us, we decided to take the second floor as my little one wants to check out the treehouse!
The second floor has space for those who want to just sit on the floor. But they also have a few high chairs for those who want to work like my husband and I. They have charging ports here, perfect for WFH setup with a view of the bay and if there was a sunset, the golden light should have been nice here. Unfortunately, no sunset was seen during our visit!
Our orders were placed and we took photos while waiting. I took this opportunity to take some portraits for my niece again. Last year, we brought her to Mosa, check out her portraits in this blog.
This time, here's my niece who's now a young lady:
Added grain for these images to have this vintage look. She's becoming so shy nowadays because of her pimples!
Our orders arrived! Here are what we got:
Chix Burger with Paprika Fries
Priced at PHP 260. Eating it was not a problem! It was good except for the fries it was not as what I expected, the fries looked dried up. But I shared the burger with my husband and we both agreed it to be good.
Fluffly Pancake
I super expected it to be so fluffy and good but looks like there was a different definition of a fluffy pancake. It is priced at PHP 175 and it comes with butter and sweet syrup. My niece shared it with Matti but the little one didn't like it. My husband complained it didn't taste good at all! They ended up not finishing it.
I got some chocolate fudge too but forgot to take photos as Matti ate them fast! As for our drinks, here are what we got:
Flat White
It was worth Php 115, served hot with a pack of brown sugar. It was delivered straight to the second floor and it looked gorgeous. It tasted good too! I told my husband to try it as he said he didn't want coffee or any drinks but when he got a sip, he eventually ordered a latte. Unfortunately, the latte tasted different and he also complained about not getting a coffee art for his order! Tehee...
Calamansi Slush
This was priced at PHP 170 and I thought of telling her before she ordered it to try other cold drinks or perhaps get the frappe instead but it was too late. Now, when it came, she said it was super sour! I tried it and there was a weird aftertaste in every sip. Yes, she ended up not drinking the rest!
While at the table, we also listened to some relaxing music. And then the scene around the bay made this visit worthwhile! We watched as people around started walking into the shallow part of the sea, looking for seashells, kids were playing, some locals were on their fishing boats and even a few individuals were on jetski and wakeboards! The cafe owners are wakeboarding enthusiasts too and they got a lot of boards to rent I believe as they were displayed at the cafe exteriors.
When the lights were turned on, it was a sign that we must go home. Thanks, BECCA for this slow afternoon! I love how I felt relaxed and refreshed seeing the bay and the views around it. I realized I had been so busy with so many things that I didn't have time to slow down and just forget about anything. Rest and doing nothing is not a waste of time, it is necessary for our body and soul!
