Happy Valentines mga Langga!
On Valentines Day, we were at Panglao, Bohol for a time with just the three of us, to celebrate the day of hearts. After all the fun at the pool, as we stayed a night at Red Picnic Hostel, we checked out at noon and remembered there was a shawarma place just nearby.
It didn't take long before we found the place, they got a big parking space right in front of the eatery. The huge name sign at the top will make sure customers won't miss the place and that's why we remembered pretty well that there's a shawarma place here.
We were surprised to see the cozy interiors! It's mostly made of treated solid wood! It's also the first time that I have chopped wood as the base of a plant pot! It was cute! There are around four tables which can accommodate four customers each and they also have a long high table with really cool chairs!
There was only two staff around, one of them was making the wrap! It's basically made from scratch and we can see how he kneaded the dough and made it into the flat wrap! They got an electric grilling machine too and they would make two to three wrap just to make sure that the wraps are always freshly made!
The other staff on the other hand would entertain customers and take orders and then assemble the shawarma. They only have chicken available at that time but aside from shawarma, they got doners and shawarma rice available too! They offer gigawarma too which means half-kilo shawarma! I couldn't imagine how that would look though and how we could eat such but that's good for PHP 429!
And they offer coffee too! We already had coffee at Red Picnic so we just ordered shawarma. They agreed not to put sauce on one of the shawarma so we can share it with Matti. This little one doesn't like anything with sauces or soups.
It took only a few minutes before they could serve our orders. There were three other customers around who were seated at different tables! Most of the customers were foreigners so I believe that this place is already well known to tourists as it is not located very near to Alona Beach which is somehow the center of tourism in Panglao yet there were many foreigners coming in and out.
Anyway, as someone who had tried Middle Eastern shawarma, I can say that this one is close to its taste but it is so thin compared to those served in United Arab Emirates where I worked for two years and we would always eat shawarma whenever we crave for it. There were only a few things inside, just the basic though for this one and I wish that we could really have a shawarma place in Bohol that offers almost the same shawarma from the middle east, thick fillings, and really good ones that would make you stuffed! I remember that they even add fries and it's really a huge one! In Dubai, one chicken shawarma costs only 5-6 dirhams which are around Php 70-80.
Still, we had a good time here, plus the staff is very accommodating! I will surely come back and dine again!
