Here's an unexpected visit to a trending cafe in the southern part of Cebu province - Seargao. "Unexpected" as my husband and I were driving on our way to Cebu City from Oslob and we had no plans of stopping over but, I received a message from my client of an urgent task and we had to pull over and look for a spot with a good internet connection. At that point, we were already in Argao and I checked the Maps, we just passed by Seargao. I knew right there that it was a call to make a U-turn.

From the highway, you won't miss this cafe as it is the only structure with cogon roofing. At night, this also a lot of lights that illuminate the place. Thus,

I don't know when they opened to the public but judging by their furniture and the surroundings, this is still very young, most of their chairs and tables looked new, and even the signages and stairs.

As for their name, I can see that they were incorporating the town's name and the fact that they are just located along the seaside but anyone who hears their name would also think of Siargao which is the surfing capital of the country. But actually, their name was supposed to be "The Mangroves" because where they are located has a small patch of mangroves which they want to protect and preserve.

We arrived past two in the afternoon and headed straight to the second floor which offers al fresco dining with a nice view of the sea. We would have loved to stay on the ground floor but their music was too loud and we would have audio meetings with our bosses so we just decided to stay on the second floor. It was windy there so there's no problem with ventilation.

We ordered food while working. There were also other guests and diners on the second floor. The cafe has a lot of servers and staff, and they were friendly but they didn't have this sense of urgency for our requests when we asked for their Wi-Fi password, it took a lot of going back and forth. Also when I asked for their service water, it took a lot of time.

As for pricing, I'd say they are on the expensive side but they taste good. Matti even asked for another round of chips. My husband and I just shared their chicken quesadilla and then we had lattes.

After working and eating, we decided to pay and went down to explore the place. We were drawn to their open platform with their tree swing as well. It's the usual spot where visitors would ask for a photo taken but I must say, this is a very insta-worthy place!

They have a place available for those who want more privacy. This was closed when we were there though, I guess they were still working on something there.

But as mentioned, they have a patch of mangroves in the area and they made this platform where guests could look down and see them. While we were there, we told our little one about the mangroves and how small fishes would love staying there as the trees protect them from big fishes who would eat them. We saw small fish and Matti was really excited about them! He spent the next few minutes throwing dried leaves into the water.

It was almost golden hour when we decided to go to their blue-colored lounges. They looked aesthetic and very comfortable! It was still a bit warm when we sat down and my little one complained about it.

The above photo is the view from the wooden platform. I wished we could stay longer because I wanted to see the place with its lights on. But we can't stay longer as we want to reach Cebu City before dinner time. So here are some of the photos we took while at Seargao:

My favorites are definitely the last two photos, simple but hold a lot of emotion for me. I am happy to be able to go around places with the two most important people in my life - my son and my husband.

If you are traveling to southern Cebu, I highly recommend you stop by for a cup of coffee or just enjoy the place! There's no entrance fee plus they have a big parking space next to the highway and their comfort rooms are really clean with modern! Their internet speed is quite fast too so working from here is possible!
