The miracles behind medieval monastery Tresije in Serbia

When I visited the Kosmaj mountain in the central Serbia a few days ago, apart from the Pavlovac monastery I wrote about in my previous post, I visited another monastery that is said to be "miraculous". It is an orthodox monastery called Tresije, dedicated to the Saint Archangels Michael and Gabriel.

The monastery is very old. It was founded at the beginning of the 14th century by the then Serbian ruler Dragutin.

Throughout history, the monastery has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, and today it is located in a pleasant environment, surrounded by spacious greenery.

My children played on the grass and picked dandelions.

I love spring because everything wakes up, blooms and smells beautiful.

Next to the monastery church, there are also monastery quarters, as well as a souvenir shop.

In the spacious yard there are many benches where you can rest while the children play. Everything is arranged so that you feel pleasant and comfortable, like in paradise. 😊

This monastery was very visited, unlike the Pavlovac monastery, where there were not many visitors. It seems that Tresije is more popular, and I accidentally discovered why.

Locals believe that this monastery is miraculous, and when their story spread around, more and more people started coming here in the hope of being cured of serious illnesses and solving their problems. Namely, they say that once the image of the Blessed Virgin appeared on the outer wall of the church. There is also a story that scientists investigated and determined that the picture was created over several years due to weather conditions, but the locals still believe that it is a miracle.

It takes a little time for people to start believing in miracles because they want to solve their problems, which unfortunately are many. Miracle or not, this monastery is constantly visited throughout the year.

When we wanted to enter the church and see the interior, the baptism was in progress, so I couldn't take photos.

We walked around a bit and enjoyed the beautiful greenery.

In the meantime, the baptism was over, so we entered the church, which was very nicely decorated. It was colorful inside and there was a sense of peace.

I especially liked the carpet called "cilim'" on the floor, which is one of the symbols of my country, Serbia.

In front of the church, we saw a fountain dedicated to the Serbian ruler Stefan Lazarevic, as in the previous monastery we visited, because he rebuilt the monastery after the first demolition.

It's nice when something is preserved for years, and I always feel great respect for such places.

We don't have to believe in miracles, but we can let things happen to us on the path we're on, and who knows, maybe one day we'll experience a miracle that we'll talk about and be happy about. Life is one big miracle, full of small miracles waiting to be discovered.
