Hello everyone. During my visit to Ecka Castle, which I wrote about in my previous post, my attention was drawn to an interesting lonely object nearby. It looked like a little castle, a tower in a ruined state, very old.

There was flat ground in the area and it seemed as if it was being prepared for some kind of construction. I started researching what kind of monumental building it was and I found some information.

This tower is called Water Tower or "Vodotoranj" in Serbian. It was built in the 19th century and belonged to the Ecka Castle. It served as an excellent viewing point from which the entire property could be seen.

It is located in a quiet environment where houses are lined up along a pebbled road.

As I got closer, I was amazed by the size of this tower. And it looked so small from afar.

The surrounding space is also large. I assume that it is being prepared for some tourist facilities and I hope that the tower will not be demolished in that case and that it will be preserved as a cultural monument and tourist attraction.

It is currently in very bad condition. The approach is not safe because parts of the walls are falling. But I peeked in anyway.

In the past, there was a steam engine inside that drew water from a nearby well and transported it further to the property.

When I got inside, I felt disappointed. It was full of garbage that no one picks up. I began to imagine how this tower looked once upon a time, in its full glory when it was considered a symbol of the village. And today, hardly anyone knows about it.

Water Tower was built according to European castles. It reminds of a castle from a fairy tale, and the construction machines that I saw around give hope that this space will be arranged and protected from further deterioration.
