If someone had told me that in a small town in Serbia I would meet someone who had moved there from Barcelona, I wouldn't have believed him because Spain is a much more attractive destination. 😊 But in Smederevska Palanka, a small town in central Serbia, I saw that it was possible.
A few weeks ago I headed there with my family. We have never been to this town before, and it is very close to our city, Belgrade, so we decided to take a walk there because we heard that there is a museum that has been restored and is worth visiting.
When we arrived, I noticed that there are a lot of old buildings in the town. Some are preserved and some are quite ruined.
We reached the main promenade and walked a bit there. My children were interested in the large pallete in front of the museum, which was the first place we wanted to visit.
The museum was open and we were interested to see the display inside.
We entered.
On the ground floor of the museum, children's works created in the children's art workshop using the collage technique are displayed.
The children were given printed reproductions of pictures from the art collection and by cutting the reproductions they created material that they assembled like a puzzle into a new art work by gluing the parts.
We learned that collage as a technique was used a long time ago, but it was mostly used in the 20th century. This creative activity brought great value to the transformed paintings, which gained a new meaning.
When we looked at all the pictures, we went up to the first floor.
On the first floor, old manuscripts of famous historical figures of this place, as well as the history of the town, are displayed.
There are also many records of friendship and economic ties with the French people, which are documented and presented to visitors.
After visiting the museum while walking around the town, we saw a church that seemed very old.
We went inside.
We learned that the church is from the 19th century and valuable icons and Christian historical heritage are kept in it.
We were hungry, which led us to an interesting place.
It is a small tavern "Lagano" opened by a girl from Barcelona and her boyfriend from Smederevska Palanka, who moved here because she fell in love with him. 😊
She is very kind and loves Serbia very much, and because of her hospitality, the tavern is always full of guests and you often have to wait in line to enter. On the tables, there are articles from newspapers where you can read her love story and how she came up with the idea of living and working in Serbia.
The specialty of their tavern is buns with prosciutto, eggs, milk spread and other fillings. This is a traditional Serbian mountain dish with Spanish charm. 😊
A great gastronomic pleasure and experience. At the exit from the tavern, a Spanish girl greeted my children and gave them candies. 😊 We went home with good impressions and the desire to come again.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
