just like this sculpture of a woman, my sunday got turned upside down.
i usually laze around on sundays, but not this time around.
so here is how the day went, yes, you heard it right.
day!
so untypical of me to go out for a stroll in daytime, at this cold weather.
scene 1: bengali restaurant
it really started with a lunch invite from @ohlnwwlknat to this bengali restaurant he found on the net.
and the bored me, bored of eating all my home made food, decided to just come along and have a differently flavored dish for once.
bengali was the theme, the shop looked authentic enough.
hindu scripts are all around the shop, and they had a very large display of their gods displayed prominently inside.
i am not really well versed in indian food or any food around that region, i wouldn't be able to distinguish bengali from nepali flavors if you were to ask me.
i do not even know why bengali was singled out from indian cuisine itself, but i can appreciate tastes and know which ones suited me.
their dish did it for me, the shrimp coconut curry was the best thing.
i also loved that vegetable side, the fish i liked too, but just hoped the tomato base was a little stronger.
but like any indian cuisine, these dishes were spicy and herby, just perfect for the cold weather.
i wouldn't mind coming back in here it all.
scene 2: arakawa nature park
the day was so early and so fine, it would be a waste to go back home in a hurry.
the gang decided to go on a stroll.
funny thing was that @ohlnwwlknat baited the others if they would like to go on a zip line.
the moment i heard it, i immediately knew what he was up to.
i have been in that park and would love to try that zip line too.
i once featured this park in my blog as well, i could never forget that time.
taking some time off in arakawa nature park: June 1 2024
the tennis and baseball fields were fully occupied this time even though the air was chilly.
i guess keeping yourself active makes your body warmer even in this weather.
this children's playground was very inviting, our children's heart was filled with joy as we enjoyed some of the stuff.
we might have even laughed and smiled too much as we rode that 4 way seesaw of sorts.
and got red as we passed by the children playing by the swing; they must have innocently wondered how fun our ride must have been.
we continued on to the woodsy area of the park where some trees have shed their leaves.
i forgot the term used for it, but only some types of trees does this yearly.
trees in tropical places do not, but then again, we do not have such huge temperature differences throughout the year.
tropical trees probably do not even thrive in this season.
the swans are still here!
surely they could fly away but they just don't.
but then again, do swans these big fly high in great distances?
i also do not know.
them staying in this pond rich in food (and probably human fed as well) is like their natural shackle, they get fat from the abundant food making them too heavy for flight.
we finally got to the area of the park with the obstacle courses.
the zip line is in here, mini zip line that is.
when i was here before, i was too shy to try out the courses alone, now i am back with people who aren't shy to try them out.
naturally, i got brave to try them out as well.
the not so young got to try some mini american ninja warrior training.
it was just so fun!
having some acrophobia (fear of heights), my knees naturally got weak when i tried to get on the zip line.
i tried it at ground level first, made sure that my hands can support my weight on their own, before i tried the whole thing from the top of a ledge.
it was just so fun, it is so fun to enjoy child stuff again.
if only there were no people around, i would have rode on it a dozen more times, but the adult in me had to give way to the children.
scene 3: the buns
the outside trip ended with a visit to a meat bun shop.
the other housemate found this place out and shared how much he enjoyed the food.
it looked like a specialty shop of some sort, selling meat buns and even dumplings.
of course i had to try them out.
i enjoyed the shichuan meat flavor more.
in this cold season, having some hot and spicy food works best for me.
anyways, thanks for stopping by.
and as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
