Hi ASEAN Hive Community! I’ll share some photos I took in Liloan, Cebu. Back then, my college friend invited me to visit her hometown. I was able to visit their house and later, we went to a place that is popular with locals and photographers.
We went to Bagacay Point Lighthouse or the locals simply say Parola sa Liloan. It said it is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Philippines.
But first, we went to the local market to buy food for our little picnic at the lighthouse. We bought poso or hanging rice, kinilaw/kilawin or ceviche fish, and a half kilo of lechon baboy/pork inasal or roasted pig. Oh my, the pork inasal was very delicious.
Oh, it was delightful to see a native chicken around. I was thinking of capturing it and we could have some native chicken soup at my friend's place. Haha! Just kidding.
My friend and I spent the afternoon having our little picnic and some chitchatting and laughter. It was so relaxing because we were surrounded by everything green.
We enjoyed our picnic I told her that I needed to buy that inasal/lechon baboy because it was so good. I felt like what we ate wasn't enough for my tummy.
From afar, I just enjoyed taking photos of the lighthouse.
Later on, we decided to take a walk to find the lighthouse. I took a photo of this ship from afar. I was testing my Nikon D5100 using the 18-55 mm lens or the basic kit lens.
Using the editing photo software, I zoomed in the photo to see the name of the ship. It is Cokaliong. I cropped the photo and made sure it has the same size as the original photo. It looks like I was using a zoom lens.
We just continued to walk. Personally, I had no idea where the Parola was. I might get lost if it was just me, alone.
We saw a few men near the rocky shore, one went swimming and the other two were just bystanders. I might as well took a photo of them.
Here were some other bystanders or better I think they were fishermen having a rest after a long day of fishing.
Maybe they were just having a little drink, doesn't look like alcohol. Much better.
It was a good place to stay in the afternoon since the sea was very calm.
But on the northern side of Cebu, the sky started to get dark.
The other side of Cebu had clear skies.
Since the sky started to get dark, I tried to take a photo of this tree because it was nice. I used the HDR photo setting of my Nikon D5100 camera. It had a dramatic effect on the subject.
We did many turns, left or right. I think we asked a local to show us where was the lighthouse.
We did a quick stop to have a photo of the lighthouse from afar. By the way, my friend's name is Jane. <3
We continued to walk and it was rocky. I realized I was wearing only slippers and no shoes.
And we found a sinkhole. I was thinking that there must be undiscovered caves in here.
Finally, we reached the Parola. The lighthouse was made in 1904. Too bad, we didn't stay too long here because of the dark clouds. We need to get out right away.
Not sure what I was looking at. If this was the North Reclamation area or still the coastal area of Liloan or another town. Okay, I just did my little research and it's Punta Engaño on Mactan Island.
When I saw this area, I told my friend to have my photos taken here. Well, it has a nice view.
To be honest, it was difficult to walk on the rocky road with just a pair of slippers. But I was careful enough not to hurt myself. I think at this time, I wasn't able to buy a new pair of shoes.
And this guy having an alone time enjoying the view. Well, he was lucky.
Suddenly, my camera shut down because of a low battery. I really enjoyed my afternoon in a place I had never been.
YouTube videos about the Parola sa Liloan
and another one...
Oh wow, just watching the videos, there are a lot of improvements going around. So, right now, I can see that there is a subdivision here. Well, I was here 10 years ago in 2013.
Now, the lighthouse is more attractive to locals and tourists. Also, a lot of people will enjoy their pre-wedding photos here.
