For many years I have been having a love affair with all things Soviet, I have started to further indulge my love affair by visiting the Federation and former Soviet Republics and Warsaw Pact countries (thank you scamdemic for forcing me to have to cancel planned 2020 trips).
One of my journeys last year was Travelling by train from Moscow to Ekaterinburg, I joined a group of fellow travellers and off we set, early on in the trip we stopped over night in Suzdal. Ok so I did the touristy stuff which was well; touristy.
On a free afternoon I just took myself and my camera off the beaten track and did what I do, mooch.
Not knowing or expecting to find anything. I was wrong, I found some interesting bits and bobs. Alas the only Urbex of the whole trip.
Bumped into some of the locals, not a lover of cucumber I passed on the lady selling her wares
A British taxi?? Last taxed 2005, Mot expired 2008
A vintage fire engine, sliding down the bank was fun, getting back up a bit of a bugger
Walking further out of the village I came across this overgrown graveyard, basically on the side of a dirt track. Russian nettles are as potent as those in the U.K.
Then, round the corner..... no it can’t be surely not, well if I didn’t take a look I would probably regret it, wouldn’t I?
Oh Lordy! that back door opened easily, so.....
Calendars from 1987 and 2009, interesting.
Every home needs a telly and decent plumbing
I have never seen wallpapered doors before, padded doors must be a Russian thing as they were common to all apartments I saw in Chernobyl
Is this the most ornate light switch in the world, ever?
It wouldn’t open!
Why in god’s name I didn’t pick up and examine what I thought was a passport (and have now been told it is a record of military service), I don’t know and can’t explain must have had a mental block. Shit shit shit I now kick myself
