Mid 19th C.
Also known as Hunyadi Castle, originally built in the 15th C of the common era, but virtually destroyed by fire and subsequent neglect.
Although seen as one of the largest castles in europe, and noted as one of the seven wonders of Romania. It is well, "not real."

Though in fairness I have to admire the architecture and the minds of the designers.
So a quick flit through the public areas, I find places like this so sterile and "set up".
I remember back in 2017 when I jacked in being a salary slave, my beloved suggested we join the National Trust and spend our time visiting places like this on a weekly basis.
The thought made me break out into a cold sweat. Hell on earth.
"Dearest", I said," My time will be better spent rooting through granny's old knicker draw".
But, fast forward to 2023, I am mellowing in the winter of my life and open to all suggestions.....let's see!

Made my way out onto the ramparts, to enjoy the landscape, which was really quite enchanting.
The town of Hunedoara in the nearby distance.
Back inside I did find something that warmed the cockles of my heart, an exhibition of wall mounted surreal and absolutely stunning artwork

On the outskirts of Hunedoara, though to be found in most areas of Romania, stand these chavtastic constructions.

That was back in 2014, but they are still standing, still being built.......But with the Govt of Romania being known as one of the most corrupt in Europe, (nearly as corrupt as the unelected gravy train riders in brussels)......enough said.
It was supposed to be a quick photo grab, as so I was informed Romanian pikeys carry guns,but...... sometimes I can't help myself.

So a day out in the Romanian countryside, we made our way to the border and entered Serbia, destination Belgrade..... the journey continues
