I have accommodated myself on the Asian side of Istanbul, but the proximity of geographical Europe didn't let me sleep well and I couldn't leave without visiting that side of the city.

When going down to the docs, everything still looked pretty much like the good old surroundings of the Galata tower. At some places even resembling Porto in Portugal, cause of its steep roads and colorful facades. At the dock though it is a new world. One cannot see the scale of the city until making it to the sea. That very fact gives you the real perspective of where you are. It is absolutely enormous.

On the bridge connecting the old and "older" continent one can buy fish as a bait, or even a fishing experience, or some typical sesame seeds snacks. Quite a busy place any time of a day, but beautiful views and atmosphere. And the little round baguette tastes great, ask for the one with cheese.

And by that point we are in Europe again. The buildings do seem to be under slightly different influence, not the mosques of course but generally the planning seems to be more squared than bazaar like. Even though the biggest bazaar of Istanbul is hosted here. We will take a look next time. Today I will take you further around the coast, to catch some sun and see more of the iconic fishermen.

In the afternoon the sun came out, air got warmer and I have finally had a chance to enjoy this oriental place with the weather it deserves. Nice 25°C. That's how we like it right...

Although I doubt those fishermen are having a lot of success, it is admirable past time activity, I just don't think it can be economically sound in this form. But these men are in it not for money, they come here to smoke and chat with friends while sharing cups of tea with each other.

After seeing all these fishing I could not resist a grilled fish sandwich, which is present every few hundred meter in this area. It is quite delicious, with lot of veggies and vinegar souce. Even though later I found that most of them just buy Norwegian troud for this fast food, I was happy. The taste is well worth being a little cheated...

All the best,
