On my frequent walk-arounds I have seen a lot of beauty. Not having a proper camera without me all the time didn't stopped me from taking some snaps anyway and with a good eye for postproduction even phone photography can look amazing. Or shall we call it phonography???
There was a mysterious church overlooking Tbilisi and I could almost see it outside of my window, but not just quit. So every time I went out it was kind of screaming at me to go and see it. One day deep into lockdown i have packed my drone and though yes today is the day to go and fly around that church. Oh, was I wrong. Tbilisi is quite windy place in spring and so my plan shattered to pieces. Nevertheless when already outside with almost nobody around I thought well let's give it a try and go see that place.
You can really divide Tbilisi in few rather big areas. First of being the old town and than the two sides of the river spreading far into modern buildings and residential areas. But the old town stands out the most. That is the reason tourists are coming into the city anyway. Most buildings are hardly standing but that gives it the real charm and vibe. It is like going through medieval city with all the modern life needs. Outskirts of the old town are surrounded with real poverty. Or at least that is what your eyes see first, even though the locals might be happier folks than most of people in richer areas of the city.
After reaching certain point it goes only uphill and it becoming clear I am getting into area where not many visitors generally go to.
The streets were getting narrower and I thought it will not take long till i'll enter somebodies garden by accident. Luckily my Moroccan hat and black jacked made me look Georgian enough and when some local inhabitants saw me, they couldn't be bothered even though I was clearly looking like lost or potential robber. Remember this was in the highest level of fear of the virus and foreigners were rather unwanted visitors.
Sadly I did not made it to the church I wanted but as there are as many of them in Georgia as McDonald's in US, you can see some other one on the picture. From here on I had to turn back because I was clearly getting into somebodies terrace and i wanted to avoid problems.
From here on more and more old cars started to appear. This is truly something that you can not find in another so called European country. because obvious isolation of Georgia, locals need to make use of everything till its final days and cars are no exemption. On that day I have came to the Idea of starting a photo album of old cars here in Tbilisi and in Georgia in general. But on that note sometime next.
