Is there anything more famous about Cappadocia than a balloon flight? Maybe great local wine, but about that some other time...
Every tourist stand and leaflet pictures this awesome activity and tries to sell you on it. It is off season now and locals charge somewhat less than in summer. 50 euros should get you up in the air in this part of the year. I wasn't going to join them though. Yes, I did woke up early as many of other tourists in town, but I was going there on my own, trying to capture the drone shot of my life...
The two main take off spots are famous Love and Rose valleys. So I thought if I position myself right in the middle of them I have the best chance to capture some epic moments.
Spoiler alert, street DOGE was spotted and captured on camera many times. Yes, the very same group of street dogs followed me again. They joined me already in the center and instantly recognised me. At first I was a bit afraid again, thinking they will eat me out there in the wild. But obviously that didn't happened and they were a great company.
That was the moment I pulled my drone out, still cold as it can get, my fingers frozen, I tried my best and successfully flew over the "Cappa's nest". Than I have stopped taking pictures like on an assembly line and tried to just enjoy the present moment. With bunch of street dogs I was walking bellow all those people in balloons like local... Interesting feeling really, it was warming me that I didn't payed for the flight, as It wouldn't be easy to be trapped inside a balloons basket for an hour or so, unable to move...
I am not a big fan of selfies really, but in here the moment was so strange, with all the dogs and balloons around me, I couldn't resist few. It is also worthy to mention that the night before came a little snowfall, so the landscape looked even more unusual than ever. Cappadocia is really a place like from a fantasy book or another planet.
On my way back to the city, the sun finally came up and I started to feel warmer both physically and spiritually. It was really one of those moments that draws you into the present moment and your and world's worries fade away...
If you're interested in some of the drone footage I have mentioned, you can check out my video report down bellow.
All the best,
