A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough thanks to a friend of mine who is a tour guide to visit the castle of the catajo a very particular castle that second but which has little to do with Castello but mainly looks like a villa.

It is located in the town of Battaglia Terme in the province of Padua exactly on the Euganean hills.

It was built practically at the end of 1500 at the behest of a leader of the Republic of Venice Pio Enea first of the Obizzi and had been built mainly as the residence of the mother of this famous leader.

Then naturally with the fall of the Republic of Venice it passed first to the Este family and eventually to the Austrians who moved to Vienna I have a precious part of the furniture and other famous artifacts at the end in 1930 it was bought by an important wealthy family of the area that still today holds the property.

There is a beautiful internal courtyard that was used by those who built it for theatrical performances and in any case I must say that the villa is well maintained even though it is all these years.

Think that the castle has 350 rooms and there is almost the risk of really getting lost inside this majestic residence and there are several frescoes by Giambattista Zelotti one of the most famous Venetian painters of the time a pupil of Paolo Veronese.

In fact, what struck me most about this residence is the majestic courtyard, I hadn't seen so many around.

And what about the majestic fountains in the garden, one more beautiful than the other.

Unfortunately, little is left of the interior furnishings because first the Austrians took it away and then what was left was taken away by Napoleon.

the staircase to enter the very scenic villa is truly impressive.

I hope you enjoyed this castle-villa below. I leave you the website related to this moment in case you want to make a tourist visit in the future.
