Un día de disfrute en la playa de Cepe / A day of enjoyment in Cepe beach

¡Saludos comunidad viajera! Para el día de hoy les tengo mi último paseo de mis vacaciones a Choroní. El último día llegó mi hermana y nos fuimos a conocer la playa de Cepe. Sólo se llega por mar tomando una de las muchas lanchas que salen desde el puerto de Choroní. Aquí el diario de ese hermoso y divertido día.

Greetings traveling community! Today I´ll share with you my last trip of my vacation in Choroní. The last day my sister arrived and we went to see Cepe beach. It can only be reached by sea by taking one of the many boats that leave from the port of Choroní. Here is the diary of that beautiful and fun day.

Día 5: Bueno, ¡hoy es mi cumpleaños! Fue un cumpleaños totalmente diferente, no hubo torta, no hubo llamadas, no hubo velitas que apagar, no hubo ningún regalo envuelto en papel ni hubo nada que hubiese habido antes, de hecho, solo en la mañana y en la noche me acordé que era mi cumpleaños. Todo fue diferente. Es el segundo cumpleaños que paso solamente con mi hermana y el segundo sin mi papá y con mi mamá en Grecia.

Day 5: Well, today is my birthday! It was a totally different birthday, there was no cake, there were no phone calls, there were no candles to put out, there was no gift wrapped in paper nor was there anything that had been before, in fact, only in the morning and at night I remembered that it was my birthday. Everything was different. It´s the second birthday that I spend only with my sister and the second without my dad and with my mom in Greece.

Me levanté temprano en la mañana para desayunar y cuando empecé a comer, la hija de la sra. Olga, dueña de la posada se acerca a mí y me dice que había una chica afuera preguntando por mí. Era mi hermana, me felicitó por mi cumpleaños, le presenté a la sra. Olga y nos fuimos a la habitación para que se cambiara. De la posada no iba a ir nadie a ese paseo excepto nosotras dos así que nos fuimos para el puerto (Puerto Colombia) a ver a que grupo nos uníamos. Antes fuimos a comprar una mascara de buceo porque yo estaba obsesionada con llevarme una para Cepe ya que me dijeron que el agua allí es cristalina y se ven los peces.

I got up early in the morning to have breakfast and when I started eating, mrs. Olga, owner of the hostel, comes up to me and tells me that there was a girl outside asking for me. She was my sister, she congratulated me on my birthday, I introduced her to mrs. Olga and we went to the room to change. Nobody was going to go to that trip from the hostel except the two of us, so we went to the port (Puerto Colombia) to see which group we were joining. Before, we went to buy a diving mask because I was obsessed with taking one for Cepe beach since they told me that the water there is crystal clear and you can see the fish.

Caminamos por aquí y por allá en busca del señor de la lancha, hasta que por fin, después de esperar un rato esperando decidimos ir a donde estaban las lanchas. El lanchero llamó a un bote que ya estaba saliendo y nos fuimos allí. El viaje fue bastante heavy metal jajaja, había mucho oleaje y dábamos saltos a cada rato, en una de esas dimos un salto que me sacudió el estómago por completo, para evitar que me volviera a pasar, pensé en apoyarme con las manos sobre el asiento y cuando veía que íbamos a rebotar, subía las nalgas y así evitaba la sacudida y no sentía el golpe. El viaje desde Choroní hasta Cepe dura unos 30 minutos, nos paramos a dejar a dos chicos españoles en la playa de Valle Seco, donde por cierto, hasta esa hora, no había nadie, eso estaba totalmente solo y tampoco hay ningún servicio allí (agua, comida, toldos). Cuando llegamos a Chuao se bajó un señor y en Cepe nos bajamos los cuatro restantes.

We walked here and there in search of the man of the boat, until finally, after waiting a while, we decided to go to where the boats were. The boatman called a boat that was already leaving and we went there. The trip was quite heavy metal hahaha, there was a lot of waves and we jumped every so often, in one of those jumps we took a jump that shook my stomach completely, to prevent it from happening again, I thought about leaning with my hands on the seat and when I saw that we were going to bounce, I would raise my buttocks and thus avoid the jolt and not feel the blow. The trip from Choroní to Cepe lasts about 30 minutes, we stopped to drop off two Spanish boys on the beach of Valle Seco, where by the way, until that time, there was no one, that was totally alone and there is no service there either (water, food, awnings). When we got to Chuao one man got off and in Cepe beach the rest of us, four people.

La playa de Cepe es muy bonita, el agua es verde y cristalina y hay muchos cocoteros, casi no había gente. Nosotras nos instalamos de una vez y mi hermana se metió al mar sin esperar mucho, yo me quedé un rato afuera y la escuchaba decirme “está súper fina, métete”. Luego salió y se tumbó a tomar el sol, en eso vino el lanchero y nos dijo que no iban a poder venir a las 4 sino a las 3, bueno, ni modo, está bien. Decidí entrar, me llevé la máscara y ¡al agua! La verdad que estaba súper fina, me zambullí unas cuantas veces y me puse la máscara, al principio, no veía nada, pura arena, después empecé a ver los pececitos, unos como blanco transparentes de tamaño mediano. De repente me di cuenta que la mamarracha de máscara que me había comprado, se había roto, ¿$%”# jajaja, con razón me entraba agua, quien me manda a mi a estar comprando esa cosa y para colmo el tubo ese que trae para respirar fue un desastre para mi, no se muy bien como se usa y me comencé a desesperar jajaja.

Cepe beach is very beautiful, the water is green and crystal clear and there are many coconut trees, there were hardly any people. We settled down rapidly and my sister went into the sea without waiting long, I stayed outside for a while and listened to her tell me “the water is amazing, get in”. Then she went out and lay down to sunbathe, the boatman came and he told us that they would not be able to come at 4 but at 3, well, no way, that's fine. I decided to go in, took the mask and get into the water! The truth was that it was amazing, I dived a few times and put the mask on, at first, I couldn´t see anything, just sand, then I started to see the little fish, some like transparent white medium-sized ones. Suddenly I realized that the diving mask I had bought had broken, holy &?¡# hahaha, so that´s why the water got in, who sends me to be buying that thing and to top it off the tube that the diving mask brings to breathe was a disaster for me, I don't know very well how to use it and I started to despair hahaha.

Mi hermana volvió a entrar, después, ninguna de las dos quería cargar con la máscara esa jajaja. De repente me di cuenta de que tenía frío y no solo eso, sino que estaba temblando. Me salí porque me estaba pegando fuerte el frío. Eso si, de las tres playas que visité, Cepe es la que tiene el agua más fría. Nos sentamos a tomar el sol para calentarnos después nos vestimos y fuimos a ver qué podíamos comer. Dimos con un pequeño restaurante de cabaña y preguntamos por el menú, mi hermana pidió pargo blanco y yo dorado, antes nos tomamos unos cocos y agua porque estar en la playa da mucha sed.

My sister got in the water again, later, neither of us wanted to carry that diving mask hahaha. Suddenly I realized that I was cold and not only that, but that I was shivering. I got out because the cold was hitting me hard. Of course, of the three beaches I visited, Cepe is the one with the coldest water. We sat in the sun to warm up after we got dressed and went to see what we could eat. We found a small restaurant in a cabin and asked about the menu, my sister ordered white snapper and I asked for mahi-mahi or common dolphinfish, before we had some coconuts and water because being on the beach makes you very thirsty.

Llegó la comida, los pescados con sus respectivos tostones y la ensalada de zanahoria y repollo con mayonesa. El dorado estaba absolutamente delicioso, que puedo decir, es el pescado más rico que he comido. Pagamos y nos fuimos hacia las rocas que dan a Puerto Escondido. En esa parte había como pequeñas piscinas que se formaban entre los huecos de las rocas y estaban llenas de erizos de mar y pececitos. Caminamos hasta el final pero estaba muy difícil ir hacia Puerto Escondido ya que había que pasar unas cuantas rocas grandes que dan al mar así que decidimos quedarnos allí un rato, tomamos fotos, yo cargué un erizo y me puse a ver los pececitos. Como ya era casi la hora que iba a venir la lancha a buscarnos, empezamos a caminar hacia la playa. Estaba haciendo un sol insoportable, podías sentir como los rayos UV y UVB penetraban en tu piel.

The food arrived, the fish with their respective tostones (platano chips) and the carrot and cabbage salad with mayonnaise. My fish was absolutely delicious, what can I say, it´s the most delicious fish I have ever eaten. We paid and headed for the rocks that overlook Puerto Escondido. In that part there were like little pools that formed between the hollows in the rocks and were full of sea urchins and little fish. We walked to the end but it was very difficult to go to Puerto Escondido since you had to pass a few large rocks that overlook the sea so we decided to stay there for a while, we took photos, I carried a sea urchin and I sat to see the little fish. As it was almost time for the boat to come to look for us, we started walking towards the beach. It was making an unbearable sun, you could feel the UV and UVB rays penetrating your skin.

Ya eran las 3 de la tarde pero nada que venía la lancha, como a las 3:20 apareció, nos subimos y empezamos el viaje. De regreso había mucha brisa, por lo que el agua de las olas saltaba sobre la lancha. Paramos en Chuao un rato a esperar unas personas que se regresaban a Choroní, eran dos señoras, una chica y un señor. Como las olas nos mojaban una de las señoras decía: “ay! no me quiero mojar, ya me bañé, tengo frío”, todos muertos de la risa con los lamentos de la señora jajaja.

It was already 3 in the afternoon and the boat wasn´t there, around 3:20 the boat appeared, we got on and started the trip. On the way back there was a lot of breeze, so the water from the waves jumped on the boat. We stopped in Chuao for a while to wait for some people who were going back to Choroní, they were two ladies, a girl and a man. As the waves were wetting us, one of the ladies said: “oh! I don't want to get wet, I already bathed, I'm cold ”, the laments of that lady made all of us laugh hard hahaha.

A pesar de que todavía no eran las 4 y de que había mucho sol, la brisa que acariciaba mi rostro a la velocidad de la lancha me hacía sentir maravillosamente bien. En mi mente tenía este pensamiento: “quiero ver delfines, que salgan los delfines”, “vamos delfines, hoy es mi cumpleaños, que mejor regalo que verlos saltar justo ahora al lado de la lancha”. Pero que va, no vi ninguno, según uno de los lancheros, a ellos no les gusta salir cuando está haciendo mucho calor, salen temprano en la mañana, al atardecer o cuando está lloviendo. Será para una próxima oportunidad.

Although it wasn´t yet 4 o'clock and there was a lot of sun, the breeze that caressed my face at the speed of the boat made me feel wonderful. In my mind I had this thought: “I want to see dolphins, let the dolphins come out”, “come on dolphins, today is my birthday, what better gift than to see you jump right now next to the boat”. But no, I didn´t see any, according to one of the boatmen, they don´t like to go out when it´s very hot, they like to do it early in the morning, at sunset or when it´s raining. It will be for a next opportunity.

Al llegar a Choroní nos fuimos a la posada para bañarnos y luego salir a comer y pasear por el pueblo, como era Viernes, el malecón se llenaba de artesanos, turistas, música y gente bailando tambor. Al día siguiente nos regresamos a casa. Bueno amigos, espero que hayan disfrutado de esta mini aventura por la hermosa naturaleza de la costa aragüeña. Si tienen la oportunidad de visitar Cepe quedarán maravillados con sus aguas cristalinas, su tranquilidad y la hermosa vegetación que hay alrededor.

When we got to Choroní we went to the hostel to bathe and then go out to eat and walk through the town, as it was Friday, the boardwalk was full of artisans, tourists, music and people dancing drums. The next day we went home. Well friends, I hope you have enjoyed this mini adventure through the beautiful nature of the coast of Aragua state. If you have the opportunity to visit Cepe beach you will be amazed by its crystal clear waters, its tranquility and the beautiful vegetation that is around.
